As I initially hoped, Vettel is welcoming a challenge from Kimi, publicly at least.

In my mind its a Ricciardo - Raikkonen battle right now.

You don't think Hulk or JEV are in the mix then?

Interestingly before Grosjean put in a good one on Sunday there had been talk that The Enstone team were talking to JEV about going there (Frenchmen helps them tempt Renault to stay) which would signal JEV doesn't think he'll get it either!

RasputinLives

I don;t think Vettel wants another young German to upset him . Chances of Hulk at Red Bull slim

JEV was disappointing last weekend whilst Ricciardo once again proves he is a one lap specialist

-------------------

Interesting idea that Lotus consider JEV to replace the Swiss Cheese/ French brie but I don't see how they will get a massive discount on the engines from Renault from doing it

Kimi because he simply does not a :censored: what Marko thinks and that is the perfect attitude for Red Bull and he is well liked by the Red Bull team

The fact Kimi idolised James Hunt is a demonstration of that - a guy who was anti establishment and rebel which is Red Bull's image

If Red Bull are serious for constructors championship as well they should hire Kimi unless they are seriously going to put faith in Ricciardo or JEV to deliver and that means not holding them back to challenge Vettel in my opinion

they say two strong drivers does not always work in an F1 team as proven in the past but Kimi is unique in the way he handles these situations and very carefree

I don't think Kimi idolises anybody actually - he may like to tip a hat towards Hunt, as a driver who would also have probably been "taking a shit" instead of watching Schumacher having more smoke blown up his arse at that time, but idolise? No - doesn't seem right to me.

teabagyokel - love your new signature, btw! :snigger:

But they are paid now. They were waiting for their new sponsor to sign which happened a month or so back. hence why they are in contract negotiatiobs with him now I'm guessing.

I think Bernie would like to see a Kimi/Seb Red Bull too. Possible friction between drivers and intense competition would certainly improve the F1 'story' and get more viewers.

Is there anyone that doesn't want to see Seb take on Kimi? Other than Ricciardo's family of course.

It would be so sad to see Raikkonen stay at Lotus. It's always said that he's so content and happy there, but he pretty much always looks the same anyway. It would take an interesting character to turn down a Red Bull drive...

I don't want Kimi anywhere near Vettel because I think Kimi would get the short straw and would never be allowed to race to his full potential again.

What evidence is there of that? Red Bull clearly want Raikkonen. They're not going to hamstring him in the car.

Just because Webber never seized his opportunities doesn't mean Kimi won't.

People said the same about Button going to Mclaren with Hamilton and it worked out very different.

If that were true, I would see Jenson and Kimi as similar personalities - I don't.

But it was true and yes I know they are very different personalties but can you really imagine Kimi obeying a team order he doesn't like? He doesn't care. Not sure how they'd stop him racing.

Unless you are suggesting they'll nobble his car?

There is one think you should all consider though. just a thought. Seb might take on Kimi and beat him purely because he's better than him.

So why would Kimi get the short straw Jen? Mark never has. He just wasn't good enough.

edit -
Seb might take on Kimi and beat him purely because he's better than him.

Thats what we all want to find out Ras. Seb's stock would go WAY up after that if it happened.

Vettel was to have quoted in some motorsport news magazine " I don't fear Kimi!"

As for Hulkenberg managed by Schumacher's ex manager Willi Weber who will no doubt try and convince Red Bull that he is the best young German driver on the grid which Vettel would seriously dispute

It won;t help his profile with the German press if they are then become divided between him and Hulkenberg in the same team. At the moment he is getting the attention as the lead German driver
---------------

Last I heard JEv is out of the running ? Any fans of Jean Eric as it seems Ricciardo's one lap speed is getting him the nod
