No I don't but I have it in the back of my mind as something to do at some point, maybe not until the end of the season.

To be honest, with the amount of hype that these two guys came in with plus their records pre-F1, I was actually expecting a really good fight between these two.

It's not been great really, hot and cold for both, with Ricciardo slightly edging it.

I think Ricciardo has been more consistant but lets not under estimate how good Vergnes job in Canada was and how bad luck has robbed him of good results. Monaco 2012 for instance and a blown tyre at Silverstone. He was on for a finish well in the top 10 for both.

I completely agree about JEV and Ricciardo having less crashes than Buemi and Alguersauri. Can't remember either of them being in any big ones or looking dodgy. Alguersauri especially was a bit lairy.

RasputinLives on previous post you dont have to agree with me that is fine

Back to Jaime he is on this week's Autosport about being thrown into the deep end into F1 too early because he never had the chance to develop jumping from F3 to F1 at 19 years old . He could not understand it despite showing a few strong performances

Another section on Felix Costa in the YDT and he has had the taste of F1 and wants to get into it now

I will give Jaime his due ... he doesn't shy away from how he feels ... however usually it is a bit easier to do that when you are actually driving on Sunday for an F1 team though ...

looks like Ricciardo may have got himself firmly to be promoted to Red Bull with another top 10 quali and getting endorsement from Dietrich as well

All he needs to do now is to finish strong tomorrow in the race in the points

Schumacher is not the the greatest of all time
Vettel has to prove he can win in not the best car and beat a world champion teammate
I'll name Button for a start they said it was the car so he went to Mclaren to prove he is a world class driver taking on someone who was considered one of the top 3 on the grid

Hill as well at Williams it was the car so he showed what he can do without Adrian Newey afterwards

I don't know how you can talk down Vettel's record and then use Jenson an an example. Jenson's performance against Hamilton last year was dreadful at times and if anything confirms his inadequacies when not in the best car in the field. I'm sure you'll say it was the tyres but I just can't see Vettel performing that bad against Lewis. It should not be doubted that Vettel can win races regardless of team or team mate, the question should be about winning championships or 3 in a row for that matter in not the best car or in closely matched competition.

Then what you say about Button's performance vs Hamilton in 2011 then ?

My point being Button was criticised he won a championship with the best car and to shut the critics up he decided he will take the lion's den challenge and go up against Hamilton

I don't see Vettel wanting to do that .. the difference is with the Red Bull even if he makes a mistake because of the speed of the car he can recover whereas other drivers are punished for their mistakes. Helmut said Seb drove flawlessly last year ...really maybe he should have gone to specsavers

Alonso would never fit RBR with his ego.. I think after hearing about Lotus' recurring money issues Kimi must be the next RBR driver.
Not only that. I don't see Seb being willing to crash to help FA, nor do I see blackmail being effective at the team, so Alonso would not be a good fit there.

The Hamilton/Button 2011 debate has been done to death and I'm not going over it again. There's no reason why Vettel couldn't attain the same levels. I'm also sure Vettel would not have descended into the level of mediocrity we saw with Jenson last year to the point of getting lapped in the same car.

It will be a sad day if Ricciardo ends up at Red Bull. There couldn't be a much worse testimonial for F1 and its many off-circuit demands than if a World Class driver like Raikkonen turns down a drive for the top car.
