I agree it's a harsh rule and it's only recently that it was changed to DSQ after one false start.

Prior to that one false start was permitted and the second false starter was DSQ'ed, even if they didn't cause the first false start.

So you could argue that it's fairer now.
 
P'raps the dsq rule on false starts was brought in to stop some (and there are a few 'gamesmen' in athletics) from unnerving their competitors by going too soon and then having to regroup. Just a thought.
 
So was Gatlin earlier. Could be a blinding final. They're running WR shattering times from 10-20 years ago in the bloody semi's. Mental.
