The 2013 Season

Some say that time trialing is not proper racing, it has to be all set off at the same time. I can't see that working on a course as long as the IOM though.

It's also worth of mention that European races have been quite stable on the positions during the calendar year. The amount of European races have been decreasing whole time, which has led to bigger gaps.

That's my issue. In order to keep historical dates relevant, they simply allow huge chunks of time to pass during the summer holiday season without any hint of F1 action. If a European race disappears, I believe the schedule should be adjusted accordingly. Oh well. Formula One fans are accustomed to long layoffs I guess.

To be honest, it's better than it used to be for long gaps.... It's not so long since the South African GP was held on the first Sunday of January, and then the next race of the season would be in March or April!!! Can you imagine that... Revving up for the GP season, and then stopping for 3 months, and then starting again.... In fact, on at least 1 occasion, it was on New Year's day, so the qualifying sessions were actually in the previous year!!!

That's where the long gaps belong. At the beginning of the season. Multiple 3 week/Month long gaps in the middle of the season make for a discombobulated and unsatisfying summer schedule. Unless you are Brogan.

This season is one of the worst I can remember the tyres, DRS double zones and a scandal I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed a single race...

It is obvious to anyone with eyes and half a brain that the Merc's benefited greatly from the so called Pirelli tyre test, I just hope that the other teams get just as much benefit from the YDT and the playing field has once again been leveled....

Roll on next year.....

Lets be serious Meph. You'll never be happy.

I'll never forget one of our first exchanges. You said something to the effect that you "expect more from the fans than you do the drivers". Saddest outlook I've ever heard.

I have no doubt you'll have something to feign misery over next year.

I love F1. Quite enjoying this season even if its not the most exciting one I've ever seen there is enough to keep me interested (its not 1992!).

I tend to just sit back and watch the latest 'its killing the sport and devaluing it' stuff along with the 'God its not entertaining because its a lottery not about talent' thing with amusement as there has always been something thats got people saying that in every season I've watched in 23 years. In ten years time it'll be forgotten though and these days will be talked about with fondness.

Hardcore F1 fans are never happy. There like the hardcore Indie kids who stop liking bands when they become well known.

The fact is its cool to say F1's not good or ruined now days. A bit like its cool to say you hate Coldplay. They all spend there time watching the races and posting on the forums though.
