Notice Featured Threads

I've added a few more bells and whistles.

The ability to dismiss featured threads is now a user group permission and only available to Active Members.

Socal media sharing links/buttons are now present on each featured thread block.

Also some other stuff related to the managing and back end which is boring and irrelevant.

Is the social media thing new? I thought I'd just not noticed it before. Was surprised to see the Kimi thread being talked about in Spanish on twitter!

I've just activated the other social media buttons - G+1 and Reddit.

Mainly to showcase the function for others who have purchases/are interested in purchasing.

There are way too few featured threads and I would suggest it is not the lack of articles but the very high standard expected for a featured thread. Frankly I find most of the featured threads as a bit dull. They tend to be in depth articles about a specialist niche of F1 normally from yesteryear or about regulations.

Frankly the threads that should be 'featured' should be those attracting the most reads and replies, NOT just those that belong in a magazine.

The web site would be much better off with a higher turn over of featured threads, which could be achieved with a bit less of a snobbish approach as to what qualifies. Why should it even be restricted to F1, we are a fun website lets see some of it in the featured threads.

Fixed? still just seeing 3 featured threads.

One or two lines? why not, if a thread is started by a few lines, so what, if it get 1000 replies that is the important bit for a forum not the initial post, its what people are interested in not what looks good. If its a featured thread format issue then adapt it to smaller articles.

Avatar rows? I don't follow.

I 'fixed' your comment, in the sense that this forum still suffers from the same problem it always has, over five years later; too few threads.

If the content isn't available in the first place there is very little I can do about it.

I believe my point is valid. The featured threads should be whats popular above anything else. If we can't agree lets put it to a vote. Set up a poll thread on the issue. Or I can do that if it would make you listen.

I can agree with both points here. The featured threads are currently the only ones you can link with directly to share on social media.

The most popular thread right now is the Hamilton v Rosberg. That thread would be a great one to attract new forum members as it is a great debate mostly.
Although as Brogan has said, it's only a one liner for an opening post so it wouldn't work in the featured thread box.

I know FB does have extended thread editing skills. If he could expand on that opening post would that thread be able to be featured and used to promote the site.

As for there being too few threads. The only answer to that is to keep writing them and discussing f1.

Quick edit.
Another of the more popular threads at the moment is the silly season one by Greenlantern101
That discussion would be ideal for a featured thread but again there is only a small opening line before the current driver situation is listed.

If that opening line was expanded would that also be able to become featured?
