It was alright. Kind of knew Lewis would drive away with. Some good dicing at time. Kudos Danny Ric on another stormer.

7. However minus 1 for Martin Brundle being ill, minus 1 for Paul Di Resta, another minus 1 for Hamilton's whole fake "best fans ever" on radio and a final minus 1 for Owen Wilson on the podium! Plus 1 for Jenson though (was he not able to fill in for Brundle).

So 4

Another masterclass from Hamilton, faultless from green to chequered. Deserved 10 on Lewis's drive alone but add in a wonderful drive from Bottas and some great battles between the Ferrari's and Red Bulls and others further down the grid left us with a great GP.

I'm going to be politically incorrect, so the sensitive may wish to tune out.

BLOODY BRILLIANT GP!
Where to start. I was watching from village A with a big screen, so I got most if the action. ( didn't know Brundle was ill, that's sad news)
So where to start.
Quali - it wasn't a done deal until Q3. Bottas had been faster. So much fidgeting and face hiding. But then Q3. That final lap of Lewis' was sublime! ( that evening he spent an hour with fans answering questions and signing things- his appreciation of his fans is genuine not fake)

The race-
Lewis faultless. ( panic moments for me - the start, the restart, the pit stop, when his tyres bubbled, and when tyres started bursting)

Kimi- ahead of Vettel with most times a car in between to prevent Ferrari switching. Not on Lewis' pace but could maybe have held 2nd without the pit stop. Great to see Kimi do well.

Bottas- great drive. He grows every day in my estimation. Overtake on Vettel and 'minimal talkie' LOL

Verstappen- his schooling of Vettel whilst in a slower car was delicious, huge cheer from the crowds. I love this driver. He has the skill of Lewis but he doesn't give a damn. A multiple world champion of the future.

Vettel - never very good round Silverstone, he didn't disappoint this year. Whinged about Max after he did to Max the very same thing. Shut up Vettel. That was racing, you just lost.

Danni Ric- great drive through. Some good overtakes. I really like Danni.

Hulk- great quali, great drive.

Other things-
Alonso drive in Q1 from last to first . Another massive cheer from the crowds.
Vandoorne's quali and drive.
For the wrong reason, Kvyat.
LOTS OF REAL RACING AND OVERTAKING. okay it wasn't for the lead but there was genuine battles there. So exciting!

I'd better stop. I'm in danger of boring everyone

It has to be a TEN !

Why was that politically incorrect racecub? You didn't say anything offensive about anyone did you? When I read that I though you were about to go on a rant about immigrants or something.

I will point out by the way that Max moaned about Vettel just as much as Vettel moaned about Max so you should maybe tell then both to shut up.

6 - it was good race, some good battles but we knew lewis had that race from very early on. I think the aborted start & SC forcing teams into a 1 stop did affect the racing, but nice drama in the final laps & did move to a 6 from a 5 because the vettel baiting did make me smile with huge cheers for max bottas & tyre shredded

RasputinLives , unable to hide delight at Lewis doing well? Cheering when Max schooled Vettel? I held back on cheering when Vettel's tyre went. :embarrassed: Well I held back on here. I didn't at the track. I tried, because a Vettel fan was sitting one side of me...but the screech just escaped my mouth before I could stop it.
Okay maybe not unPC , but outrageous delight at the whole weekend. Delight at Lewis being so dominant and Vettel being worse than he usually is at Silverstone and having some misfortune as well.

(About the Max and Vettel moaning. Vettel pushed Max off track first. Max may have moaned, I didn't hear that on track radio, but max then got him back, took justice into his own hands if you like. So really Vettel shouldn't start that stuff if he isn't prepared to receive it back. Can't be a giver and not a receiver :D)

cider_and_toast yes, a screen is needed , as is radio Silverstone commentary in your ear. But nothing can replace the atmosphere of actually being there, watching them come round, seeing the gaps grow or shrink, following the battles, smelling the tyre burn on the big lock ups, watching the drivers interact with fans ( some of them) , magic.

This one was a good one.

I couldn't get any better than 1992 (though I've been a few times since).

Agree about Radio Silverstone and big screens.

They do tend to merge into one . I remember bits from races but forget which ones.

Standout ones for me 2008, 2003, and this one, but that's probably because it's fresh.

Liked 2005 cos Montoya won ( was a big fan)

And I remember bits that stand out from others. Webber winning after Vettel took his wing and saying 'Not bad for a number two'.
The exploding tyres. The one where Lewis bailed on quali and lost pole, but then still won. The big Raikkonen crash that delayed the start. Schumacher breaking his leg, also winning by going in the Pits. Lewis diving for wets at just the right moment. Damon and Schumacher crashing .
Loads when I stop and think about it.

No surprise here for a 10 - Well managed, controlling, and dominating performance from Lewis for the win. Congratulations are in order for not only the win, but also achieving his fifth grand slam.

Good for Max creating anxiety for some with his thrilling starts, and fighting during the race.

Bottas drove a stormer today, as Lewis said. Wolffman should sign him up for 2018

Yes, that's what I said. His non attendance at the London event.

I suspect his real fans would far prefer him to take a break between back to back races and come out refreshed and storm to a win at his home GP, Rather than perform a show.

I reckon his real fans ( by which I mean just that, his fans, not MSM's views) were pretty happy with his decision judging by the comments on his twitter feed following his tweet to say he was taking a break for a couple of days. If I'm wrong, and fans are truly outraged, I guess his 4.5 million following will drop off sharply.

Speaking as a fan, I couldn't care less about him performing in Show events . But I do want top performances from him at races.

I hate the phrase 'real fans'. Hamilton used it in an interview recently as well. How can anyone be so arrogant to judge someone as not a fan of something because they hold a different opinion on something.

Bands do it when they release and album people Don't like. It drives me frickin mental.

Lewywo4 I know you are a big fan of Lewis and didn't like him not turning up for London. Do you feel like not a 'real' fan now?

I'd rather hoped all Lewis Hamilton fans came in all shapes and sizes and opinions.

As for Twitter - just because a few people shout loudest doesn't mean it's what everyone thinks.

I couldn't care less about the F1 live event either and didn't watch it, but that doesn't change the fact that he should have been there. But hey that's Hammy, he don't give a flying whatsit coz he's earth-shatteringly wealthy, extremely fast in an F1 car and a universe unto himself.

Edit: reading that back I sound rather envious. That's possibly true.
