Most/all of the teams will lose a couple of days of testing for one reason or another at some point.

sushifiesta - In Red Bull's case, they consider Ricciardo's days as "lost", or they would if it wasn't Vettel in a Ricciardo helmet.

Wonder if McLaren are the team with problems? The little I've been able to get out of my brother in law didn't sound too promising for a good year.

I know the teams are stretched to the limit but I'm surprised it's only Mercedes who have been ready to run right from the green flag to make the most of every minute they have. Early days though.

Well Ferrari also got out fairly quickly, even if they only made it half way around the track.

Well, remember that Merc actually did their shakedown last week.... Most of the teams haven't yet had any chance to run their cars!

Hamilton just completed the first flying/timed lap of the day - 1m33.305.

The fastest time on the first day of the Jerez test last year was 1m18.861 (set by Button).

Much as I support Button, that comment sums up the problem of predictions from testing... he was so fast last year!

That time is actually faster than the first timed lap of the test last year though (1m35.607 by Massa). And yes, times mean nothing.

Front wing failure! Pfft, a decent driver would have been able to keep the car on the road and set a faster lap time as the machine would have been lighter!
