The 2011 Season

One thing I still can't decide this season is with Vettel seemingly ahead of everyone else by a distance, even his teammate.

How much of this is down to Webber being poor and Vettel being so good. I've never considered Webber to be of top team driver abiltiy but at the same time I wouldn't like to say he's a poor driver, he's just . . .in the middle somewhere.

Is the difference between the two RB's Vettel being really good or Webber being bad?
Or have I ended up exagerating the difference in my head and they're both good driver and the car is just better suited to Vettel?

A big problem I have with comparing drivers is that I can never decide where a drivers ability takes over from car performance, so you never know how much of a lap time is because of the car or because of the driver.

What are your thoughts?

Dave, I don't beleive that Vettel is THAT far ahead of Webber. As much as I have loathed MW in the past, he is well worth his seat in the RB team, absolutely. However, and I think we'll all agree, RB are more focussed on SV. The whole front wing debacle at Silverstone last year proved that and I have a sneaking suspicion the RB car is more in tune with him than it is with Mark. However, I think it's obvious that MW is harder on his tyres with the current car than SV is. Webber doesn't need to prove himself anymore, he's been around long enough; but perhaps father time has indeed taken its toll. SV is in his absolute prime, yet to peak even. Christ, how good would it be if we had Hamilton, Alonso, Rosberg, Button and Vettel all in cars with the same parity as that between Ferrari and McLaren in the 2008 season for example? Now THAT would be a treat.

I've come to the conclusion that Formula One in 2011 is like a girl with a boob job.

You know they're fake but you can't help watching and still find them entertaining; and even though there's more of them, they're not quite as good as the real thing.

Well, that's an improvement Bro :cheer:

To take the analogy a little further - a chap on viagra :D

I definately agree with you on that one Porceliamone, it would be great if it could happen, although i doubt it will for some reason.

Maybe it's Brogans miserableness affecting me. Seriously Bro, get your own site and moan on there:p

After the first 4 races of the season, this is how 2011 compares to 2010 for the top 6 drivers and teams.

The main difference seems to be Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull who have both more than doubled their points.

From BBC:

The Spanish Grand Prix at Circuit de Catalunya will have one of the longest Drag Reduction System zones seen so far, to increase opportunities for overtaking.

So, did they learn their lesson from the cold Turkey? I think not somehow.. :(>:(

On a brighter note, there is talk of a possible GP in Greece. This made me laugh, especially after this:

:s

Both parts. The zone was (obviously to most, but not the rule makers it would seem) too long, and Greece? Beyond the complete unrest, they have no money!?

Does anyone else think that the DRS zone in Spain should be after Campsa instead of the main straight?
