Head To Head Sebastian Vettel vs Daniel Ricciardo

I agree teabagyokel. But Seb is at the end of his tether and so are his fans, he hasn't beaten his team mate once this year, let alone been on the podium. If Red Bull want to keep him happy with an act of appeasement, this would be the race to do it.

Red Bull have shown no concern for Seb's 'feelings' so far this season and have made calls they think would benifit the team most both in strategy and radio calls. Which is what a team should do really. I've not heard any complaints about it from either driver apart from both drivers sneeking in an "I'm faster than him" line which happens in every team.

In fact, as with this whole thread, Red Bulls lack of favouritism is really putting Webber in even more of a bad light.

Judging from the way Red Bull handle their team and drivers academy they don't bend for any driver as they are fully of the belief that they have someone just as good waiting in the wings and their superstars can lump it. I think the 'produce more' message to Vettel and the failing to sign Kimi shows that.

Suprisingly, it's not been mentioned yet, but does anyone think the real German talent is driving a Mercedes right now and that, given the same opportunities, he would have done an equal or better job than the current champion?
Nobody knows and nobody ever will but I fail to see how someone could do better than four out of four WDC's in four years, that's pretty much 100% isn't it? And he smashed umpteen records along the way...

Oh I only went back four years because I didn't want to throw a certain other driver into the mix...

I don't think anybody could do better than 4 out of 4 but possibly others could match it. Some perhaps achieve it in even more astonishing style with more race wins and even more points. The things you add up to get to championships.

It would prove nothing. It was a question, not a hypothesis. Stats of X race wins over 78 races do tell more of a story than the simplified stat of 4 championships out of 4, though. Would you not agree? Granted I have only pointed to sub-headings rather than headings. It's still not the full text.

Just because there is no favouritism this year does not mean there wasn't in past years. This year both drivers are from the Young Driver Program, so the likes of Marko and Mateschitz, are less bothered about the victor compared to a when Red Bull home-grown driver was teammed with Webber.

What is the point of Red Bull holding back Ricciardo? The whole point of promoting himself was to say " We believe you have the abilities and potential to win races and challenge for titles in our car . Now go and prove it"

It would vindicate Marko's young driver programme

Some thought maybe Ricciardo should show a bit of gratitude and play faithful No 2 role but for once Red Bull did not hold back

Webber was only on borrowed time at Red Bull given the young driver programme was lined up with a string of drivers ready for promotion... he lasted longer than DC who probably knew he would have been pushed out

- part of it has to do their physique Webber was the tallest guy in F1 and one of the heaviest and you just knew he would always fluff the start with his weight and not having the ballast to play with

- Ricciardo is the same size as Vettel but seems to be able to use the tools a lot better in the EBD less era

Yes but Vettel is the driver who has copped for all the bad luck this season so how can you judge at this point in time, when he has been able to compete his driving has been as good as anyone's on the grid and better than most at times, his drive in Spain was pretty special I believe..

Max Chilton is coming along nicely as well and they are both very nice young men as is Danny...

There are many on here who have declared that 'you make your own luck' - if that is true then Seb hasn't quite grasped the concept!

Poor old Seb ... has basically had 2 or so seasons of bad luck in 9 races ... a fluffed strategy call or two and he is where he is ...

The only thing Seb has won this year is the whinging award ... even Lauda pointed this out ... when comparing LH to NR this season ...

"Everybody has highs and lows," he said. "Look at [Sebastian] Vettel. Vettel is a four-time world champion and he moaned and bitched over the last eight races, so if there is one guy with more lows then it is Vettel.

The lovely sport of kicking a man when he's down.

Its FOM doing the kicking. Now Hamilton is doing well Seb is their favourite target.

I notice the story 4 time world champ delighted for rookie team mates first win and first to congratulate him didn't make headlines. Or Vettel tells team 'we're not there yet guys but we'll get there' after poor race. But then they don't make good stories.
