Grand Prix 2019 French Grand Prix Practice, Qualifying & Race Discussion

It's finally time to bring the discussion surrounding the Canadian GP to a close as the whole band wagon moves back across the pond to the Paul Ricard circuit in France.

I've spent ages trying to come up with the perfect PQR thread for this GP.

After much thought. I came up with this.

All you need to know about the circuit is here: Circuit Paul Ricard - Wikipedia

Let's hope its a good race.

also i thought i wonder if Paul Ricard was a real person. so i researched its quite interesting & a humble man it seems. but then dont blame him if youve got a chance to name a circuit after yourself do LOL

Oh good, another race where it looks like Mercedes will dominate if FP1 is anything to go by. Someone wake me up when it's over please :sleeping:

Fast forwarded through FP1 this morning. Three interesting bits:

1. They showed the revised front brakes of the Ferrari.

2. They discussed the new front wing of the Ferrari. Apparently there was a wind tunnel error that they did not discover until they put the new wing in the tunnel to test. The wind tunnel error was costing them (or they were mis-estimating by..) 0.3 seconds.
......a. I vaguely remember that this is not the first time Ferrari has had a wind tunnel calibration error.
......b. They also talked about the new engineer from Red Bull being a specialist in that regard. So it appears that he was brought it to correct their (repeated) wind tunnel problems.

3. Johnny Herbert interviewed Kelly Piquet, daughter of Nelson Piquet and the pregnant girlfriend of Daniil Kvyat.

So, interestingly, Hamilton went off the circuit in FP2, and in rejoining led to Verstappen falling off the circuit.

No penalty of course (nor should there have been)- that will set the conspiracy theorists wild!

Those who can read and compare perfectly see the difference between
today's event in practice and the event in the race in Canada

Video evidence showed Hamilton looked in his mirror twice before making sure its safe to rejoin. The only offence they could have given Hamilton if he was guilty would be a grid penalty if any

I seem to remember that last year Vettel was given a 3 places grid penalty when he had a similar situation with Sainz in FP2 in Austria. Maybe someone will remember this and give us more info.

I watched the qualifying. The commentators got very excited, I didn't. Now I'm going shopping, it will be more interesting than F1.

Mercedes dominant as we expected, reliaiblity depending it will be 8 wins from 8 but what happened to Vettel 7th :o gearbox issue 1st run no grip 2nd run

but stars of qualifying that was brilliant from McLaren. is this the light at end of the tunnel people been hoping for since end of 2013 & Ricardo kimi incident should get no penalty. as its almost identical to hamilton/ verstappen in FP2
