Technical 2014 F1 Engines to be Used in Le Mans?

There's speculation that the 2014 LMP1 regulations could involve the engines from Formula 1's 2014 engine regulations. With F1's testing being so tightly restricted this could offer engine manufacturers a chance to really develop the engine and it would also offer them a way into Le Mans.

Difficult to know how to feel about this. As long as the F1 engines are optional and not compulsory, then I welcome it cautiously, because indepedent engine companies like Judd have been a mainstay of the sportscar arena and might struggle to build an engine to compete with cheap F1 knock-offs.

Of course, it opens the door for Ferrari to return to Le Mans, a tantalising prospect, but I have to say at this point, it seems an unlikely one. The last time they did this sort of harmonisation, with the 3.5l F1 engine regs, it killed sportscar racing completely.
