Football 2011/12 Football Season

The problem is the distribution of things like TV money - Celtic and Rangers get far more than the other SPL teams, whereas at least in England there is a more level playing field when it comes to income.

Breaking news!!!!

Wolves have confirmed their new manager

Wolverhampton Wanderers have managed to hire a new manager just after sacking Mick McCarthy, the lemur from Madagascar. The one known to have taken over goes by the name of "Sly to the Boogy", it is an odd move since Mr.Boogy has no experience of managing a football team at a professional level.

Mr.Boogy has been given £30million budget to build up a squad for next years challenge, whether they will stay in Premier League or not is a different matter.

'Sly to the Boogy' had this to say:
"I am delighted to be given this opportunity, by becoming the Wolves manager I intend to not be a lemur in disguise, I will make the Wolves anthem "Big Bad Wolves" - by Duck Sauce"

The main players that Wolves will be after in the next transfer window are:

Marijuana Fellaini, David Louise, Andy Ponytail Christmas Carroll, Guitterez, Colochinni and Splatan Ibrahimovic.

It is quite a list...

News 24 have just reported that Rangers have gone into administration and that, in addition to their financial woes, they will have 10 points deducted. Anyone know why administration means a loss of points as well?

I know nothing about the game or its governance, so am keen to know why one financial disaster incurs a seemingly unrelated (and more relevant?) setback.

Is it like the guy who can only repay the minimum on his credit card having the APR upped?

The ten-point deduction is seen as a punishment for getting into financial troubles; before that it was percieved that clubs were getting into administration, and manipulating and abusing it, as a way of getting rid of debts fast, then restructuring, than borrowing more again. So in essence, football clubs (before the points penalty) were cheating the financial system. Administration very nearly always involves a points penalty nowadays, and sometimes, it is more than ten points; it can be 20+, and demotion to different leagues.

Thanks mjo.

Surely, if they are to survive administration, then they need to be in a position of attracting new backers by proving that they are capable of beating most of the opposition - which I believe is shown by their prowess, in point terms, within whatever league they are in.

Arse about tit really

In 2003, Leicester City were promoted to the Premier League after a spell in administration. Their rivals complained that their decision to manage the financial storm had disadvantaged them because they could not simply buy players and write off the debts. Therefore, a 10 point (in the Football League and SPL; 9 points in the Premier League :dunno:) penalty was applied to teams who went into administration. (Ironically, Leicester were 12 points clear of 3rd placed Sheffield United).

It is worth noting that the 10 point penalty is a minimum. Luton Town were given a 30 place penalty for various financial irregularities in 2008-09 and Leeds were deducted 15 points the previous year to essentially buy back their League place.

Rangers won't suffer too much this year, they'll finish 2nd in the league, which their league form would have guaranteed anyway. Teams in more competitive leagues, such as Portsmouth, will be in more trouble as they will be stuffed into the relegation zone should they pick up the penalty. Which will, of course, make them far less of a good investment.

Probably the worst in performance terms for Rangers will be that they will probably lose most of their best players over the summer; this may even lead them to finish 3rd or lower, but I wouldn't bank on it LOL! It is yet another bad day for Scottish football's competitiveness in Europe, though.

Pompey looking to go into administration again >:(

That completely sucks, with that comes a 10 point deduction. I do honestly feel sorry for you Pompey fans you've been put through the mill and really need this all to go away now. Would be a crying shame to see a FA Cup winning team go out of business and even so out of exsistant.
Good luck Pompey and play up eh?

Right now i think there's more chance of Barcelona catching Real Madrid up than Rangers catching Celtic up. Cause aren't Celtic on a League winning strike of summat like 14/15 games right now?
