The FIA have updated their clip that introduces the start of the FOM coverage to include the new engine sounds:

The best F1 engine I heard was in that Renault Espace at Silverstone, utterly mad.

The one and only GP I've made it to... not for want of trying.

I find it quite comical that the man leading the crusade to ensure that engines are extraordinarily loud is a man who has spent the last 70 years being bombarded by a cacophony engine notes just a few feet away. In other words, Bernie probably cant hear for shit anyway! I mean just imagine the damage that a (LONG) lifetime of engine sounds can do to a human ear.

Obviously the engines are quieter, but you can pretty much guarantee that what Ecclestone is hearing is NOT what a younger person who hasn't spent their life at racetracks is hearing.

What Bernie is hearing is the sound of controversy and more cash as punters tune in to hear what all the fuss is about.

Ron Walker is off on one about the new sound - again - and has threatened to leave for IndyCar. It'd be a pity to lose Albert Park, although it would give Todt's green credentials somewhat of a boost to not ship all the F1 stuff Down Under, no?

Bernie never stays beyond the first few laps of a race and spends most of his time in the mobile FOM bunker so probably hasn't heard the sound of an F1 engine for 20 years.

Just had a watch of FP1 in Malaysia, and I like the new sound, it sounds like a real engine, you can hear the whistle of the turbo/energy recovery, and the clack/clunk of gearshifts, it's not just a massive banshee howl, and best of all the 3 engines all sound different.
