Geoff, I demand to know why I have never heard of Robin Trower before !!!

That's quality.

Once again Mr Amazon may be introduced to Mr Debit Card :D

Bro, It's all part of the fun. If you embed it then people can see what your on about and may not be encouraged to listen.

Ahhh, at last my skinflint approach to buying albums 2nd hand downstairs in Focus (OK and doing it in the 70's/80's) pays off

Of course there's the famous Whistle Test moment introduced as:

"Well, I've suffered for my music............. now it's your turn"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfTlGMCeuDE

and then there's the band who when interviewed by Sally James on TisWas, when asked why they picked their name said "It's coz of all the Dexy's we used to drop around midnight"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oc-P8oDuS0Q

and

and then, how could I forget the best concert I ever went to

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FhFMkd4 ... re=related

This welcomed me to college...

This is about all I can remember of my second year at college...

and then I remember the uncensored video of this on the screen in Sgt Peppers at the top of Park Street

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gudEttJlw3s - that was an interesting day....

(How come we cant embed youtube vids?)

If it says this "Embedding disabled by request" in the embeded slot, beneath the URL slot, then you can't.
But lots of people choose not to anyway... :)

I really like Steely Dan (ever since I first heard them in my Dad's car in the '70s!)

First up Reelin' in the Years (Just don't mention that being 40 or over suggests the years are rolling!)

Next up Haitian Divorce

I first really listened to Steely Dan though, in 1989, when I went to my first festival. Four people sat in my car,
smoking something we shouldn't  and Steely Dan on the tape player...

...those were the days!

When I really want to chillax I stick Norah Jones in the CD player, put the amp on PURE DIRECT and just crank up the volume.

It's like she's in the same room as you can hear all the finger movements on the guitar and breaths, etc.

See if you can track down the SACD version of her album, Bro (and a suitable player of course). Then you'll really feel like she's in the same room.

Cheers Jez.
I've got a Pioneer 868 DVD player which plays all formats including SACD, VCD, MP3, JPG, etc. so I'll see if I can do that.

As a big fan of the sixties (I was conceived in that decade, after all! ), I was listening to a selection of music from the swinging '60s....

...So I thought I'd post a selection. I then noticed that there is something that connects all these tracks. And that connection is 1967!

The Who - I can See For Miles

Pink Floyd - Lucifer Sam This track features the legend that was Sid Barrett

Jimi Hendrix - Wind Cries Mary (live)

And, as we are in the year, this is a vid of Nurbering in 1967, which includes some on-board action...

The minor chords are a major part of the appeal for me, I always seem to like tunes which are predominantly composed using those.

And now for something completely different

Well that's another one to add to my "great song need to check out more of that" list

To me it sounds a bit like this one and this one

Which is by a superb (and favourite) band of mine.

The second song they got into a bit of trouble for, because of the lyric of the chorus. I, on the other hand think it's a pretty good outlook on life !!!

If you like Radiohead anyway, check out an album called Radiodread, by the Easy Star All-Stars. They do reggae cover versions of classic albums. So far they've done OK Computer (Radiodread) and Dub Side of the Moon (guess). Those two are worth checking out, they've also done Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Club Band (guess) which isn't as good as the other two.
