I really like Steely Dan (ever since I first heard them in my Dad's car in the '70s!)

I first really listened to Steely Dan though, in 1989, when I went to my first festival. Four people sat in my car,

When I really want to chillax I stick Norah Jones in the CD player, put the amp on PURE DIRECT and just crank up the volume.

It's like she's in the same room as you can hear all the finger movements on the guitar and breaths, etc.

As a big fan of the sixties (I was conceived in that decade, after all! ), I was listening to a selection of music from the swinging '60s....

...So I thought I'd post a selection. I then noticed that there is something that connects all these tracks. And that connection is 1967!

It is a good song and one that is based on only 3 chords, Am, Em and C. It's a to play like Thom Yorke does though, as he uses a plectrum - I have to finger pick it and there's no chance I can sing at the same time (probably a good thing ).

Well that's another one to add to my "great song need to check out more of that" list

To me it sounds a bit like this one and this one

Which is by a superb (and favourite) band of mine.

The second song they got into a bit of trouble for, because of the lyric of the chorus. I, on the other hand think it's a pretty good outlook on life !!!

If you like Radiohead anyway, check out an album called Radiodread, by the Easy Star All-Stars. They do reggae cover versions of classic albums. So far they've done OK Computer (Radiodread) and Dub Side of the Moon (guess). Those two are worth checking out, they've also done Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Club Band (guess) which isn't as good as the other two.
