Sky F1 2012

Actually I did have a problem I recorded the second practice using sky+ and it only recorded the first hour of the program and then stopped with a message saying "for your information the program has ended" why did this happen :dunno:

When it get's to 6am in the morning you have to record the second part of practice. It's the same for the race on sunday, you have to record the build up to the race between 4.30-6am. But you also have to record the race which starts at 6am separately. Hope that helps

How strange thanks for the heads up.

Well, I've finally sold my soul!

I'd been holding off adding the Sky Sports pack onto my Virgin Media as I can't really afford the £22.50/month right now. But with the Aussie Grand Prix looming ever closer I couldn't stand the tension any longer, and the thought of not being able to watch the race live for the first time in decades was, in the end, simply too much to bear for the sad old git that I am. So I just called VM to add the package.

Now I just hope that I haven't left it too late, and that the service goes live in time for me to watch the race (they claim it should be up and running in 6 to 12 hours). Ah well, if not at least I'll be able to watch the Malaysian GP, and see Chelsea thrash Benfica in the next round of the Champions League.

Sky+ and F1: Important Information

If you plan to Sky+ any of the live F1 programming from Australia, to save you searching for all the individual programmes in your Sky Guide we have series linked every live session - from the Practices on Friday to the Qualifying session on Saturday right through to the live race on Sunday morning.
Please note, if you intend to set your recordings individually, several of the programmes cross the 6am boundary where one broadcast day turns into another, therefore these will appear as two back-to-back programmes on your Sky Guide so you need to ensure you record both. The specific slots affected are:
Practice 2 on Friday morning (shown as 5.15am & 6am)
Qualifying on Saturday morning (shown as 5am & 6am)
The Race on Sunday morning (shown as 4.30am & 6am)

I'm soooo glad I signed up at the last minute, and saw that qualy session live. A Lotus and a Williams in the top ten again, the Iceman taking an early Magnum, Fernando having a go at some rallying, Red Bull nowhere (sort of) and a Mclaren front row lockout, with a stonker by Lewis.

And a decent performance by the Sky crew I thought; Lazenby & Hill did a confident anchor job (Simon even managed to convey the impression that he knew a bit about recent F1 history), I didn't have to listen to any Humphrey/Coulthard/Jordan 'banter', Ted as reliable as ever in the pitlane, some useful stuff by Ant & Thommo with the 'Skypad' or whatever they call it, and a good start by Crofty & Martin in the box.

Bring on the race!

Yup, all in all a decent performance.

My one complaint is I can't remove the red dot next to the oversized logo.
I hate having permanent bright graphics fixed in one place for too long due to the risk of screen burn.

Oh and I would ditch the woman in the studio, whoever she is.
What a pointless role she has.

I very much enjoyed the Croft/Brundle partnership, I think it's the best commentary team (particularly on TV) there has been for years.

Brundle was great value as ever, Croft did a good job, he has a warmth and a human quality that is rare in sports commentary.

I thought Damon was a bit stiff and occasionally didn't completely understand what he was getting at. He and Lazenby will hopefully relax into their roles.

The 'Skypad' isn't my cup of tea, but I was impressed by how quickly they got the Alonso spin footage for Davidson to analyse.

I thought Damon was rather good to be honest, I certainly thought he was an improvement on Eddie Jordan, at least they focussed more on the racing than on the shirts....... The Skypad would be better if Georgie Thompson wasn't on it....

I agree - I thought Damon was good, but needs a couple of races to calm down in front of the camera
