I think the ITV punditry is better than the BBC punditry for two reasons:
Ad breaks
Roy Keane
As for Hansen, he is really dialling it in. I cannot stand the knowledge and research proof golf clubhouse that is the BBC's pundits. Shearer didn't know of a full French international last year, Hansen spent the World Cup mocking Lee Dixon for having heard of players (e.g. Marek Hamsik), Lawrenson calls his co-commentator "sad" if he says anything vaguely interesting.
Sky's commentary and pundits make both terrestrial channels look stupid - Neville and Souness in particular don't seem to care who they disagree with!
Neil Warnock given the boot by QPR. The King of getting team's promoted but a complete muppet at keeping a team up. Mark Hughes rumoured to be next in line to be paid off by QPR!
If he's powerless to affect the referee, why waste energy chasing him across the pitch
The rule is "excessive force", not 2 footed tackle.
If we're going to stick strictly to the rules, "Foul & Abusive Language" is still a straight red, one that Mr. Rooney is guilty of in every single match that he is involved in.
Why do English players waving imaginary cards not get criticised?
The only payer that I remember getting criticised for it, was Cristiano Ronaldo back in the 2006 world cup or was it euro 2008? And guess who got sent off when he did it? None other than Wayne Rooney.
