Personally I love Germany. I've never been there but I intend to.
I lived in Frankfurt for a short time.
It reminded me of London - it was grey and rained a lot :D

Sounds perfect. I love rain and I can't stand the heat anyway.

Oslo, Helsinki or Seattle any day!

I loved Helsinki, even in the winter which can be bitterly cold.

I didn't enjoy my apartment though, which was extremely small and very expensive.

From the BBC live feed: "Fans of unprecedented things (and I include myself, certainly) might be interested in Infostrada's chat that never before have the two finalists from the previous tournament (Italy and France) been knocked out in the group stage at the following World Cup. This includes years in which the runner-up did not qualify."

Mama Mia !!!

:o

Definitely not a Dolmio day !!!

This crazy world cup gets crazier.

Unbelievable that New Zealand who have 3 players not even attached to a club managed to get complete a first round without getting beaten. Great performance by them and a shame that it wasn't enough to see them through to the last 16.

On an F1 forum, it is amazing to see Honda perform so well. If he changes his name by deed-poll to Brawn he'll be world class.

I wouldn't want to scrutinize his double diffuser very closely.

2066 will be the next time The united confrederation states of Engerrrrland will win it and I'll be 90.

There's more chance of me driving the #2 McLaren next year*

See what I did there.

Japan's victory over Denmark ensures that at least one team will make their first ever foray into the quarter-finals, with neither Paraguay or Japan having ever got there before.

Great stuff from Japan.

Especially Honda; some of his footwork and little flicks were a joy to watch.

I see what you did there; It's true, the Danes were a shadow of the team that beat Cameroon, and had no life in them to come back from 2 goals down, not with many players now over the hill. So Japan, with a great team spirit, march on, and those fans from the Pacific can now celebrate with a Martini or two.

LOL

I'd like to take credit for it but it was entirely accidental.

Let's just hope that England can come FIRST against the Germans this Sunday. If they can really RAM it too them instead of putting up a token effort like they did against Algeria then the whole country from Boro to the Midlands will be wanting to raise the ensign high. Hopefully, come Sunday evening, Fabio will be sat in his hotel room enjoying a glass of wine, listening to the complete works of Monteverdi and celebrating a win.

Ok, not quite as good as Muddys but I couldn't pass up the opportunity. :D

Steve Coppell, Bristol City manager and former England player, is of the view that England are better off in playing Germany, rather than a team from another continent.

"I think it's good that we're playing a European team at this stage..."

"The ball dictates that the South American teams have an edge in the competition because it pings better over ten or 15-yard passes. It suits teams who play short, one-touch passing football. Crosses are almost obsolete and the same with free kicks, set-pieces."

"Crosses and set-pieces are the European style so I can't see beyond this tournament being won by a South American team. The only other side who has a chance is Spain, because that's the way they like to play the game too"
