Strange fact.
Both American world champions, Phil Hill and Mario Andretti, went in to the last few races of season with only their team mates able to challenge for the title and both drivers were confirmed as World Drivers Champion when their team mates were killed in tragic accidents. (Wolfgang Von Trips and Ronnie Peterson).
