Nico Rosberg

Nico Erik Rosberg, son of Keijo "Keke" Erik Rosberg, is about to have his 100th Grand Prix meeting this weekend in Hungary.

I was about to write my "best wishes" to him in 'his' thread...but I couldn't find one...so, I figured I might as well start it off.

What is very interesting is that his father, Keke, took part in 114 Grand Prix races in his entire Formula One career, winning 5 of them - all for Williams from 1982 to 1985 - as well as a World Championship.

It's interesting in that Nico is approaching that number quickly and he's already about to finish off his 6th season in a few months...but without a win to his name...and no win in sight given the current pecking order of the cars.

Some say Nico is a great talent...while others say he hasn't fared well against quality teammates in their prime, so it's hard to judge. Mark Webber is, seemingly, his only reasonable benchmark and that was way back in his rookie season in a car that was one of the worst ones ever constructed by Williams.

What are people's thoughts on Nico Rosberg?

The team made the mistake thinking it was fast enough and did not send him out and then everyone in the last two minutes bumped him down

What Jos the Boss said. He still has 2 wins which is more than everyone but Vettel(and Alonso) and still sits 6th in the championship.

RasputinLives I think it shows just how erratic or inconsistent Mercedes have been given the number of poles they've had and that is the only two podiums for Rosberg

But he's also losing out to his team-mate by quite a way now. What does that say about Rosberg?

RasputinLives I expected Hamilton to get the better of him for sure by mid season . Singapore Nico's race was compromised by loss of downforce

I guess it highlights his ultimate race pace is not quite a match for Hamilton and certainly not as good as Button managed for 2.5 seasons

Nico does seem to do well on street circuits. I'd like to know what his new contract is now and whether Mercedes can still change their minds

Bernie's PR level in Germany is at an all time low and he comes out in the media to say how good a popular young German driver who drives for a team who have misgivings about being associated with him is and tip him for the title?

It almost seems planned.

I think that as long as he is treated the same as Hamilton within the team, he will quite probably contend for the title. Whether he is accorded equal status inside the team, we can only speculate.
