Current Lewis Hamilton

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

We're talking about Top drivers careers spaning more than one team.

Very few of them stay at one team only. Ferrari are always an option and they also pay top dollar.

It helps if a driver can speak Italian. It certainly doesn't hurt.

Presumably, you are referring to the quote below?

Hamilton says that this year is his worst in F1, is it me or didn't he say that in 2009 and 2010? :dunno:

"It feels like it's been a worse year than I have had previously. In 2007 and 2008, there were some incidents there as well, but because I won the championship they were forgotten. I guess as I am not competing for the championship right now it is different."

Sounds like a man who can't handle defeat to me - more than one way to skin a cat, perhaps he needs a rethink.

"I will continue to drive the way I do," said Hamilton ahead of the Italian GP. "I will just try my hardest to stay out of trouble. I will give people extra room when I overtake them!"

LOL

Personally I think he can handle defeat well, I just think he's just a very driven (pun intended) young man who strives to do the best he knows he can and gets pissed off (as we all would) when it doesn't always go to plan.

"But despite criticism of his aggressive style, Hamilton believes that a fresh approach is not required to turn his situation around".

Says it all really - he ain't prepared to consider another approach!

I'm not a Lewis hater, I just think that sometimes he needs a good talking to. He is undoubtedly one of the finest drivers on the grid but sometimes, because of his inflexibility, he looses out. You can be aggressive and canny - he needs to learn the canny bit.

And I still say he has trouble with losing, which is what drives him on, but he still needs to see that something has to change somewhere.
