Current Lewis Hamilton

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

Actually that is true. Mclaren seems a lot steardier this year. Survived the carnage of Monoco(although they did have to rebuild on the grid), Lewis survived being hit from behind in Malaysia, Jenson survived the contact in Canada.

I'm sure there is more.

Maybe the designers did focus on making it a stronger machine - but wouldn't that be at the expense of speed?

It's just another driver trying his luck, sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong and relying on the other driver moving out of the way - something he had no obligation to do.

A bit like Kamui...oh never mind.

Watching that vid, It looks like Hamilton can take a fair portion of the blame, driving into dissappearing space is never going to end well.

Ok. I will explain. Hamilton did not dive into any space. He was already in the space. Massa braked later which gave the impression of track position but was hung out, then just chopped Hamilto who had positioned himself with the clear high-ground.

Have to say I don't think Massa knew much about it really. It was off the start and you often see drivers using different braking points to take different lines on the first few corners depending on their positions on the track.

Yes, I'm watching it now, just struggling to see what Massa did wrong. Maybe I'm a fool for asking on this thread.

I think Keke is spot on with what Massa did wrong, he turned in more than was the norm and he was unaware he had a driver beside him

I do not believe he would have turned in like he did. He barely took any curb on a chicane where they routinely bounce over a good portion of it.

Unlike Lewis on Koba in Spa where Lewis took the normal line but was guilty of not realising that he had another driver beside him

Whos fault both times?

Hope this helps as I do not want to revisit this stuff

They were side by side all the way up to the chicane. If Massa knew nothing about it then tha spring must have damaged his eyesight on the left eye.

Not really alongside Ninja. Massa was having to drop back from being alongside Alonso and I think he was paying far more attention to making the turn without hitting Alonso rather than what Lewis was doing. I find it difficult to aportion blame to Massa as I'm not sure what else he could have done in that position other than slam on the brakes and let everyone past him.

Sorry for bring it up guys. Maybe I should have kept my thoughts to myself on this one. BBC's fault for making me watch it again.

Next time try force yourself to talk about another driver instead of Lewis, Maldonado for example

otherwise the guys in white coats will be carting you away to the Hamilton tinfoil padded ward

I find it difficult to aportion blame to Massa as I'm not sure what else he could have done in that position other than slam on the brakes and let everyone past him.

Please give it a rest mad monk, its been a year, cant we talk about any other things?

I wish they'd carry you away Cook. A debate about Lewis Hamilton without the Martyrism would be nice.

*edit* - nice post edit of your post there Cook. I can do that too! Me and Ninja were just having a friendly debate as you well know because you saw the rest of the posts before the edited. No one fell out and one made any remarks about favourtism sarcastic or otherwise

Maybe. So his choice was concede or chop Hamilton. He chose the latter and the rest is history.

No need to thank me for providing this morning's entertainment. ;-)

I guess you could put it like that. But lets reverse the situation - Would Lewis have conceeded or chopped him? We both know its the chop because he's a racer and racers don't conceed. Hence probably why he didn't complain about it too much afterwards.

Note to all: Please don't use my 'lets reverse the situation' comment as an excuse for some really funny saitire on how if it was reversed Lewis would have been banned and everyone would have hated him. Wasn't what we meant and you've expressed your view.

Do we really need to have stupid discussions about the same old accidents every two weeks? Let's talk about THIS year for a change. That would be nice.
