Current Lewis Hamilton

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

Interesting to see he feels like its his worst season in F1 because he feels he;s been scrutinized for every incident

Then he also denies his celebrity lifestyle hanging out with the R n B and Hip hop crowd is affecting his focus

Crofty has been reading my posts ;)

On 5Live during FP1 for Monza he just suggested that Hamilton may not go on to fulfil his potential during his career, bearing in mind he has only won 1 WDC since 2007.

If Lewis doesn't win another Championship he won't be the first driver never to fulfill his true potential and I'm sure he won't be the last. One has to question if his loyalty to McLaren is perhaps misplaced given how bad (relative to McLaren of years gone by) their cars have been since 2008. Perhaps he should have gone else where...

That was as frank an interview as it gets but as usual his critics will find fault with anything he says. His openness is sometimes his weakness as it makes him an easy target. However I also see this as a major positive as it makes him come across as very easily accessible unlike some other drivers.

I get what you're saying regarding his loyalty to Mclaren however I must pick you up on the Mclaren car's not being as good as Mclaren's of yesteryear is a little bit of a myth. Even the 2009 car came back to be one of the quickest in the second half of the year. If Lewis had been around during the winless period of 94-97 or the 'as strong as a chocolate teapot' era of 01-06 then I think he'd be out the door and stalking Christian Horner for a drive at Red Bull.

Fact is that apart from the first half of 2009 Mclaren have always given him a car that is capable of winnng Grand Prix's. Not many can say they've had 5 years of that so maybe thats where his loyalty comes from.

These things can only be judged in hindsight, but it's seldom a good idea to leave McLaren, regardless of where you're going. They haven't won as many championships as they should have lately, but only Ferrari have been so consistently at the front.

And he would be getting slaughtered for his lack of loyalty and regarded as ungrateful compared to Button
.
i do think though that it is inevitable that he moves on as the mistakes and support from the team are well under par

A quote.... I often think of when I see Lewis being interviewed...
' People treat your kindness as a weakness...& your honesty as a chance to take advantage'
My advice to Lewis..same as his dad said....."Do your talking on the track"
But ....if he does this, his detractors call him sullen/aloof...and the journos are none too pleased

Might be straying off topic there Ang

There is a thread for paranoid delusions and imagined consipiracies involving Lewis

on here everything is fine and he is treated just like all the other drivers and he isn't white. black, pink or green, he is just a driver

Just watching Trulli's re-runs. Monza last year. Massa's fault. Looking at it with fresh eyes and that was just plain wrong from the Brazillan. I might not have said the same at the time, but it looks very clear cut in hindsight.

Sorry, you will definitely need to explain that.

Lewis has to take some blame there too. But I said it then and I'll say it now, if it had been a championship contender in Massa's position, I do not believe he would have turned in like he did. He barely took any curb on a chicane where they routinely bounce over a good portion of it.

I'm all about the 2011 GP right now though.

Not really. That's been done enough. That ground has been gone over many times. At the time I was clouded by the championship battle and by the excitement of the moment and the influence of all the commentary and chatter. Just turned the TV on, watched the incident completely isolated from the hysteria and it's clear as day. First time I've been able to look at it completely subjectively.
