Jason Plato has been thrown a lifeline of sorts after managing to secure a 1 race deal with RML.

Jason Plato has made a last-minute entry into this weekend's British Touring Car Championship season-opener at Brands Hatch.
The 2001 champion, who has been without a drive since SEAT quit the series at the end of last year, has signed a deal to race a 2008-spec Chevrolet Lacetti run on an independent basis by the crack RML squad

I hope he manages to extend the deal.
BTCC just won't be the same without him :D

A great result for JP and RML in the 3rd race, coming 2nd.

It might have been 1st if it wasn't for a 2nd lap incident which almost saw JP punted off the track.

Hopefully the sponsors will now see the benefit of continuing in the series.

Errr.....Brogan it was 1st :-)
Adams Jones got a 4 sec penalty which handed victory to Plato. Not Sure where that puts Adam Jones in that race though

Thanks for that AMR!

I switched off after the end of the last race so wasn't aware a penalty had been handed out.

Even better news for Jason and RMl then.

Yay!

Jason Plato will continue to race an RML-run Chevrolet for the rest of the British Touring Car season.

The former champion drove a Lacetti in the season opener at Brands Hatch in what was then a one-off deal, but he has now confirmed a deal for the rest of the year.

RML, which runs the works Chevrolets in world championship, will continue to run the car for Plato, but under the Racing Silverline banner.

With vaxuall out next season...plato's full time 'return' along with James Thompson's is great for the BTCC. Puts things into perspective the BTCC is still a strong series that acttracts the vest names.
