interesting interview with JEV saying he doesn't think his Red Bull chances are gone and he's just concentrating on now.

    I also like the quote

"If it is between Kimi and Ricciardo I hope its Ricciardo because I know I can beat him."

All he needs to do now is prove it, starting next Sunday.

    JEV slags off Renault

    http://www.planetf1.com/driver/3213/9185650/-Renault-holding-Toro-Rosso-back-

Bet he's one of many wishing Toro Rosso had stayed with Ferrari engines and Red Bull hadn't put all their eggs in the Renault basket.

Where is he "slagging off Renault" in that link?

He's just saying there have been reliability problems both with his team and on Renault's part, and that he's "confident they can do something about it".

Ok slagging off is maybe a little over the top. Grumpy and French about it then :)

So JEV plays a blinder in Qualy in Melbourne but once again Ricciardo will get the headlines.

Understandable with Danny boy being the Ozzies home chap, methinks.

I was kinda joking Fenders. It just seems everytime he does something good Danny boy overshadows him hence why he's stuck at Toro Rosso.

Well, if JEV is just about on a par with Ricciardo and Ricciardo's team mate is over a second off the pace shouldn't RBR be looking at replacing you-know-who by JEV?

Already rumours circulating that JEV will be replaced by Carlos Sainz Jr mid-season.

I can see where its coming from as Kvyat is making him look ordinary at the moment and Sainz Jr looked pretty impressive in the opening round of the World Series. However I think maybe JEV should be at least given to the end of the year. He's shown flashes of being a good driver and is massively impressive in the wet. He just can't do it consistantly.

I do think he needs to show quite a lot by the end of the year to avoid being dropped though.

I think a career consisting of getting the eye-catching results without consistency gives you Championship positions at Top 10 borderline teams, but not at the top.

Red Bull exist at the top.

Tough luck today due to an exhaust failure. He will be hoping for a repeat of last year's races in Monaco and Canada.

Unluckiest driver in F1? I think so. Looking at how Ricciardo is flourishing at Red Bull, one wonders how Vergne would cope...

With Danny Ric looking so good this season it makes JEVs performances over the previous two years look a lot better if you think they were pretty evenly matched.

JEV has been {unlucky with reliability/a total car breaker} (delete as applicable) this season, though. Only 2 finishes.

Its very similar to whats going on in the main Red Bull team. New boy comes in and gets consistant results whilst establish driver struggles with new car issues.

Maybe less knowledge is power with these new F1 cars.
