Vettel had a major performance advantage. He was 0.750 seconds ahead in qualifying, fastest in the down force intensive middle sector and in both the 1st and 3rd sectors too where straight line speed is more important.

I'm not saying Vettel can't overtake or anything like that, simply that his win in India involved no real overtakes.

His victory had everything to do with the fact he was able to come back through the field whilst barely losing anytime which is a skill even with a performance advantage and DRS.

F1 history is full of episodes of people with 'superior equiptment' losing races through not getting through traffic without losing time. Its also full of greats who managed to make it look easy.

Of course it does but what the hell can you do about it you can't tie one of Vettels hands behind his back or make him carry extra ballast, it isn't his fault he wins it's the other teams and drivers fault for not being up to the job of challenging him, he doesn't have to lower his game the rest need to up theirs....

But how do you know that it is Vettel's skill that he is winning all the time? No driver gets to be 2.1 seconds faster than the rest of the drivers on lap 1 without an awfully good car. Or maybe Alonso, Grosjean, Hamilton, Massa, Raikkonen and Rosberg are all in this big conspiracy to go slowly on the first lap to make the red Bull look good?

And how much faster was Mansell than Patrese in the same car?

Not much faster in 1991. Quite a lot faster in 92.
Then again, Patrese was usually quite a bit faster than the first non-Williams that year.
