Mark Webber

I'm a little puzzled as to why Webber doesn't have a page in the teams and drivers section, as Webber is a pivotal figure in the story upfront. There are questions that need to be asked. Why can Vettel win, and Webber struggle to get on the podium fighting Ferraris and McLarens? Why is the man that was noted as a good qualifier unable to get near Vettel? Did the leg break in late 2008 do him serious performance damage? and What should Webber do in the near future?

Mark Webber. Over to you...

No I wasnt. I was already a firm Lewis supporter and didnt think Mclaren favoured drivers. I also thought Lewis was the faster driver. I dont think there is any evidence to support Lewis being favoured over Heiki(dont give me the Silverstone manoever..they were on completely different strategies). However in the light of some of McLaren's recent behaviour............who knows?

Apart from Mclaren admitting they were I guess their isn't LOL

Anyways Mark Webber thread. Never been a huge fan of Mark but I think he's having a great season actually. Quietly got himself back into the race at Valencia from all the way down there with no fuss or foul. Could have tripped over many number of people but kept his head, which is something new thats come with age, and finds himself second in the championship for it.

nice one cobber!

Solid performance... solid qually, solid strategy... I think you could tell he was a little stunned during the cool down lap on the radio... post race comments he called Alonso "a wily old fox" with regard to how easily he was catching him at the end... thinking FA was just banking some life in the tyres...

MW seems to have the RBR working pretty well at the moment... nice to see him take the results when offered and available...

I'm pretty glad for Mark that RedBull have extended his contract. He really has surprised me this season. Especially the fact that he's currently outqualifying Sebastian Vettel seems extraordinary to me. I'd be pretty happy, if he'd become WDC this year, because he really seems to be a nice and down to earth person!

Webber has done the smart move to stick with Red Bull I think as continuity is always important despite talks about Ferrari. He has come back strong this year . Vettel has not been as convincing although Seb might point out if his car did not break down last round he would be leading the championship and then we might have had a repeat of some dubious team orders again

Even though MW was absolutely shellacked by SV last season... it does bear remembering that in 3 or 4 of the first 7/8 races he suffered most of the RB07 development issues... no KERS in two or three qually's... KERS going missing or not working in races... DRS issues... and as ably demonstrated at Silverstone, he who qualifies in front of the other, and gets clean air vs 14 foot wide Ferrari's and Mercedes seems to prosper... am not suggesting he would have beaten SV or been right in the hunt with a race or three to go... he was at least two tenths slower on average I reckon than SV... which was overstated by him getting a shedload of the RB07's growing pains...
