Grand Prix 2025 Miami Grand Prix

If you happen to be heading to Miami this weekend there are still tickets available from the official Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix website. A 3 day pass is between $1,000 and $1,500 depending on where you want to sit. Ironically, there is no option to pay for the tickets by crypto currency, just good old US dollars.

I'll be honest, for me this has been one of the most underwhelming new tracks added to the F1 calendar in recent years. Too much hype, too many gimmicks, too many hangers on, and not enough racing. I know F1 is now a destination rather than a sporting event, but if the gladiators in the colosseum had been fighting geriatric grannies and household moggies, rather than tigers and pissed off slaves fighting for their freedom crowds at the arena would soon have disappeared. So here's a new tag line: Miami - The Geriatric Granny Grand Prix.

Last year Lando Norris took his maiden victory. The boy needs to sort himself out, and probably win again this weekend, if he is not going fall behind his teammate in the psychological race for the title. Max, of course, has a good record here, having won the first two races which took place at the circuit. It will be interesting to see if the car suits this track, and if Yuki Tsunoda's run out in the RB19 brings him any closer to Verstappen.

Mercedes will be racing for podiums, as will Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton, is supposedly under pressure at Ferrari, despite having taken pole and won the sprint race in China. Charles le Clerc certainly seems to be extracting more from the car than Lewis, but it is very early days. One could raise the same concerns about Carlos Sainz at Williams, with Alex Albon out performing the Spaniard. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

On Williams, isn't it great to see them getting back towards the front of the grid after so many years in the doldrums. Haas and Alpine have been the surprise packages for me so far this year, and the other Red Bull team has been going well. All of the new drivers who have stepped up to F1 this season have done well, with Isacc Hadjar and Ollie Bearman impressing me the most. And now Liam Lawson is in a more positive atmosphere his talent is showing.

Down at the back of the grid, Aston Martin and Sauber will fighting over the scraps. Given the money Lawrence Stroll is putting in to the team, and the efforts he has made to bring Adrian Newey and Honda on board at his project, you have to wonder why he doesn't think a little more about who is pedaling the cars. Maybe 2025 is a transitional season for the team and they will put proper drivers in for 2026?

Oh, and there's a sprint race this weekend, ho hum. Here's the schedule on Sky. Thank the Lord that the race on Sunday doesn't start until long after Songs of Praise has finished, which has a lunch time slot this week as it's VE day. It will cock up watching the start of final of the snooker though, but that does run on until the Bank Holiday Monday

Happy Labour Day, yah Socialists!

that sprint race was pretty good. ridiculous amount of action in 18 laps. very surprised at how

thats incredible. lightening they say doesnt strike twice & but Norris is about to win miami race, with a perfectly timed safety car just as he about to pit

biggest shock that ferrari aced their strategy. taking hamilton from 7th to 3rd. i don't recognise this ferrari being on right tyres at the right time

that was very poor from the red bull mechanics. their lucky it was only 10 seconds because unsafe release makes doesnt do justice how dangerous that was. theyve got to sort out these "automatic" systems. completely ruined Antonelli race
Christian could not find any excuse this time

What a lucky win from Norris through. Not sure if Hamilton would have caught up to the Mclaren's seeing he was fastest man on the track at the time

Guess who seems to not crash in the rain and get more points again ... Lance Stroll = 14 to Alonso nil and it looks like that gap is not going to be close

A race of two halves. The first, quite entertaining, the second, apart from Hamilton losing his shit on the radio with his team, relatively dull.

Norris had to go for the.gap at the start, there's no point trying to second guess the stewards on what decision they made of it.

Later in the race though, Piastri clearly showed how to do a job on Verstappen. There were at least two occasions where Mad Max tried the shove and Piastri backed right out of it and left him to it. Norris on the other hand tried to stick with the overtake when it's obvious Verstappen has engaged the crash to pass button.

Piastri's better race craft was definitely on show.

In other news, Williams continue to have a great season.

Small tip of the hat for Tsunoda who managed to pull out 5.1 seconds to just hold on to 10th.

Constructors will be Mclaren 's in a race with no safety car they were miles clear

Verstappen- the high tyre wear is a real problem over a distance except at low wear tracks

Russell in that boring Mercedes may take points off the contenders but not be a contender himself

Antonelli- the podium will be coming soon. He got put in his place when it came to wheel to wheel racing and his race pace fell off but he put down a marker for the future

Albon - driver of the day

Ferrari- another messy weekend and the team orders farce cost them a shot at getting Antonelli

Meanwhile Alonso - still no points and now 14pts down on Stroll. Aston Martin right now is a dreadful car

it was probally the best grand prix we have seen at miami, even if its not saying much. but it was enjoyable. we finally got a fight for the lead in dry conditions i didnt think we would get that this season. downside dirty air was so bad if that it took piastri to be 2 seconds a lap quicker & mclaren to have their most dominant race for 18 years, to have a chance to overtake

for Norris he has to make that move on the 1st lap. its a weird thing i have in this because in 1 case i dont blame max because for me Piastri is as guilty in saudi as max was in miami. but i do blame max because the rules are wrong but rules are the because of max's dirty tactics historically. i want to see side by side racing. but we dont get that because as we have seen in the last 2 races. if your leading & "its your corner", your well within your rights to ram someone off

i knew ferrari acing the strategy couldnt last for too much longer. ferrari have arguably ruined both drivers race today. by being useless. as its almost comical, that their telling 1 driver they will swap this lap & without contacting the teammate. Hamilton could've finish 5th why put Hamilton on faster tyre & then let him sit behind leclerc for 5 laps while they have a "tea break". lose any advantage he had. he's already taken a 1.5secs out of antontelli in the 1st few laps. when he was free. & god knows what they have changed on that car it has been dire 12 months ago leclerc qualified 2nd. this yr he was 8th

The Ferrari strategy was terrible if they've seen what Williams did and see the results. It was obvious try and see if they can get Antonelli and did not !

I will say Piastri's move is one from Mansell's book of overtaking which I've been saying to get past Verstappen to get him to over commit his defence first and then sell him a dummy or cutback

I really wish Mansell ,Senna,G Villeneuve were racing to put these guys to shame

wasnt it a rumoured 20m they paid for colapinto. its a shame & in extremely tough circumstances. but bahrain was poor. miami wasn't his fault but still doesnt help
Yes but Oliver Oakes is actually resisting Flav's temptations and saying Doohan deserves proper chances and he did outqualify Gasly this week

It does not help with these murmurings though reignited by one of Colapinto's sponsors

I wonder if anyone at Alpine is regretting not promoting Piastri when they had the chance

I actually enjoyed both races, although the full race did tail off. Did anyone notice the Mercedes message to Antonelli during the Sprint race? Something along of the lines of "don't worry Kimi, it's only the mini race". If the teams don't care why should the fans?

Especially when it bumps the already obscene weekend ticket prices up even further.

The teams objected to it being used for Qualifying. If I remember correctly, Horner spoke out against a separate Sprint championship.

It seems as if it was designed to be as irrelevant as possible.

In defence of Antonelli I felt he was bullied in the wheel to wheel and the team needed to protect him

i think that was just trying to downplay it & make him feel better. because he wouldve been very exited & it did all seem to go wrong
