On the NASA live feed we are actually seeing a mirror image of the transit which makes it a bit confusing, also people should realise that Venus is not as big as it looks compared to the sun in these images due perspective and distance...
Actually the small sunspot I can see on the above image would easily swallow Venus...
Got up at 5am to put up my telescope. Took one look at the thick cloud cover & went back to bed.
Hope my telescope still works in 117 years
Thank goodness we're in an age where someone else usually has a view they can share.

It's amazing isn't it. We all accept the fact these other celestial bodies make up our solar system but most of us never have the chance to see that they actually exist. At an open evening at my son's school they had a tracking telescope on Jupiter and you could see some of the moons around the plant. Just fantastic.
