How Good is Sebastian Vettel?

I don't think he is the wrong champion. I think that Vettel and Red Bull fully deserve the driver's title, which they achieved together. Had McLaren performed at the same level or had Ferrari produced a better car then we could say that Alonso/Ferrari deserved it or Hamilton/McLaren deserved it... but they didn't. Based on all facets of driver and team performance it is absolutely right that Vettel won the driver's title with his team.

Alonso said he believed his performance during the season had raised his stock among Formula 1 fans.
"It was a miracle to see, race after race, what we managed to achieve," he added.

Sebastian Vettel wins F1
"I drove the best season of my life and now I can only think of the year to come.
"Before, people had a more or less good opinion of me, but now I notice a whole different level of respect.
"To be one of the greats of Formula 1, it's not enough to win titles; you must also tackle seasons like the one that has just ended."
That last remark will be interpreted by some as a subtle dig at German Vettel, who this year became only the third driver in history to win three consecutive titlesbut who has spent the vast majority of his short career in competitive cars.

Just a few quotes from the BEST driver this season

Vettel should thank Mclaren for pulling Jenson in at Hungary when Seb was getting desperate being stuck a slow Mclaren

Vettel still has moments this season where he is not as cool when he is behind other cars

He complained in China his car was a tortoise down the straight
He swiped his car against a HRT and then blamed Narain afterwards showing his petulance
He was not so cool in Germany when he lost out in the pit stops and looked absolutely ragged trying desperately chasing Button and Alonso and also for doing the illegal pass

He was not so cool being stuck behind Button in Hungary and was screaming at his team " Do something !"LOL As if they can suddenly put road blocks on the track

Not sure what your first comment has to do with Vettel, but no reasonable Formula One viewer would consider the fact other cars were running away from Red Bull on the straight would consider that a fault of Vettel.

Hell, this entire season has been full of those moments. Alonso and Vettel should both be thankful to McLaren for being completely daft this season.

That's silly though. So are most of your other arguments in that post to be honest

Well Vettel went along with the set up in the first place with his own team so he should well know - high downforce means less straightline speed usually because of more drag...so really its pathetic of him complaining about it

Back to the original question, Sebastian is 3 consecutive Championships good. Now that can't be bad, can it?

Autosport ask this very question to 4 former champions on the front cover this edition, unfortunately it's in a sealed cover in the library W.H Smiths so I couldn't tell you, I think they asked Lauda, Piquet, Brabham and Stewart but I could be wrong. Buy a copy if you want to find out.

Mr Vettel is one of the best drivers - ever. Just watch his quali lap for Pole in Japan this year!

End of.

Whether Sebastian is one of the best drivers ever remains io be seen, and only time will tell........but amongst the current crop, no question that he is top shelf.
