Pre-Season 2018-2019 Winter testing and car launches

BradMan I think it could go both ways depending on which Kimi turns up. I think if he gets the hump he might just coast for most of the year.....and let's face it he's never been great with car feedback.

Every team he has raced for has stated how good he is at car feedback. Very precise yet concise, right to the point... Trust me... probably the best of the grid. That's why Ferrari kept him these last few years. That's also the reason they recruited him back. They ditched him cause he lost some of his raw speed due to age and can't keep up with Vettel. They dropped him because of his speed. Still pretty fast though.

Also, Why do you think Alfa grabbed him up when he came calling now that they want to move forward. To win popularity contest?

I've actually never heard that said about him but will take your word for it. I know he was ditched by Ferrari first time round though because they felt he wasn't doing enough to lead the team.

Also the McLaren boost button story is always quite funny and very Kimi.

Yes, and interference by Michael Schumacher, who wanted to assist his protege Massa. Ferrari realized their mistake when Massa got injured by that loose spring turned projectile. Suddenly things started working but it was too late. They've already employed Alonso

Can't wait to see if the bigger front wings actually allow cars to follow more closely and assist with overtaking.

i think it will by F1 standards it cant be worse at some tracks looking at you catalunya. but if your expecting F2 ways of following. then you'll be disappointed. but they got rid of all the winglets. which was the main problem & disturbing majority of the airflow

I am hoping for, but not expecting, better racing this year. I won't get too excited about it until we actually see what we're getting as I've done that before and ended up being disappointed.

I guess they trying to slow cars down too? Using logic, those winglets are designed explicitly to create less friction and assist airflow over bodywork in motion, which in fact affect cars following behind

We'll have to see what happens in testing, one of the key points to look out for. Teams will just find another way to get around the problem... and leave us disappointed again

no doubt thats the opening race of the season every season for me & probally why I enjoy the 2nd race more than the 1st. because every yr I naively think this is yr everything going to be great. were going to have close racing & title battle. but we end up with a terrible race like austraila last yr

also welcome BradMan hope you enjoy the dysfunctional family

Yes I am the same, every year I am there all full of anticipation hoping for great racing. After all these years you'd think we'd have learnt better by now wouldn't you? :snigger:

But this year, with the new aero rules and everything, it just might be different..... I know, don't hold my breath.

A belated welcome BradMan, great to see new life on the forum.

From me too. However, a warning. I am a miserable old sod; I know because I am applying to renew my passport before these blue things come in when my wife saw my photo this morning and remarked that anyone with a face like that must be a miserable old sod.

LOL Bill..
Thx for the welcome

Some things never change, so it seems. We are about to start a new season, and guess what, Australia launches investigation of - wait - of course Ferrari, who else? Nice fellows down there. Impeccable timing. So, what else is new?
