Pre-Season 2018-2019 Winter testing and car launches

I read that Williams have a lot of work to do on the car and they don't think they will be out on track before lunch. At least they're actually at the circuit now, it's a start.

Mercedes: Don't read too much into lap times
We're not sure we've ever had much testing insight from Instagram stories, but Mercedes' answers in a Q&A 'Ask Us Anything' last night were rather interesting.
When asked when they would be unleashing the W10's full potential, the team said: 'In Quali on Saturday in Melbourne when it counts.'
They added: 'Our focus in testing is on maximising laps and working through our programme. Don't read too much into lap times.'

How is it different from Ferrari? I doubt that red team sent their drivers for glory runs when turning in 150 laps+.

First driver into the 1.17s so far!!!
"BOOM! Raikkonen uses the C4 tyres to set a brilliant 1m17.762s.

Raikkonen sets fastest time of the test
Wow, that is impressive from Kimi Raikkonen in the Alfa Romeo!

He's the first driver to dip into the 1:17s at F1 Testing, posting a 1:17.762!

That was set on the second-softest tyre available."

Must be on fumes

Facts don't spoil anything BradMan and I wasn't belittling Kimi's time, who knows the Sauber I mean Alfa could be a monster. But I'd be amazed if test one's fastest time was by a Sauber I mean Alfa.

George Russell is getting into the Williams now apparently. So we could soon have lift off ;)
15:27 Williams has been rolled into the pits. George Russell is saddled up and pulls the car onto the track.

15:28 Russell is on the red C4 tyres in the Williams.

For reference, last year's quali time was 1:16.173. Kimi's time so far today would have put him 9th on the grid last year.

1:17.1 was fastest testing time last year. Then they took a full second off that in qually. Proving that no teams ever do a very low fuel, ultra fast, flat out laps in testing. Which in many ways makes getting excited over testing times a waste of energy.

Bottom line is testing tells us nothing.
