2016-17 Silly Season. Drivers Market

Il_leone I have direct knowledge of the status of IT contractors having dealt with them since the second third of the 1970s. They were getting paid more than I was for the same job and they did not have the the responsibilities as I had to the company. Yes, there was a boost for year 2000 testing but that was offset by companies holding back on projects until it was proven after 2000 that there were going to be no major problems.

Back on topic

The current driver line-ups are (in no particular order):

Ferrari - Vettel/Raikkonen
Mercedes - Hamilton/Rosberg
Renault - Hulkenberg/TBC
Red Bull - Ricciardo/Verstappen
Toro Rosso - Sainz/Kvyat
Williams - Bottas/Stroll
Haas - Grosjean/TBC
Force India - Perez/TBC
McLaren - Alonso/Vandoorne
Sauber - TBC/TBC
Manor - TBC/TBC

So still 7 places for drivers to squabble over.

I'll give it a go if they are looking for people. I'm the wrong size and shape in every way but I'm enthusiastic and can swear like a sailor on the radio.

I think you will find if there is a queue for the seats

the longest would be either Renault or Force India and both getting longer and the shortest probably Sauber if they were all looking for drivers

If JP follows in the way he has progressed in other formulas then he might do quite well next year.

I'm sure he can't believe his luck. It's a long shot Haas will produce a better car than Renault with the new rules (at least over the full season). Even if they do KMag would have a tough job to beat Grosjean, and even if he does he should be doing. Palmer meanwhile just has to try to keep pace with Hulkenberg next year and his kudos grows.

I'm quite pleased for JP really as I think he is better than people give him credit for. He is my current hope for a fight against the tide of 'instant success' F1 and it's fans expect. Sometimes a driver can develop into a talent.

Kevin Magnussen: Dane to drive for Haas in 2017

Jolyon Palmer: British driver to remain with Renault for 2017 season

Well I think K Mag did the right thing for himself because he is up against Grosjean we think and has has chance of a Ferrari drive - outside shot

JP as RasputinLives mentioned is not getting the credit he deserves especially as his 2nd half he's actually been better than K Mag more often than not and K Mag is supposedly one of the fastest and most promising drivers (well according to Ron Dennis until he sacked him)

I am pleased that both Renault and Haas have gone for drivers who potential and not just how much dosh they will bring

It does look like the midfield will be seriously competitive next season

Williams - Bottas/Stroll
Renault - Hulkenberg/ Palmer
Haas- Magnussen/ Grosjean(?)
Force India - Perez/ Ocon( rumoured)
Toro Rosso - Sainz / Kyvat

Its too close to call between all those teams all with good driver pairings

so we are down to Sauber and Manor then

Palmer made it! We know he's not ridiculously fast, but nor was Jenson Button when he started. JP seems balanced, oh so British and a very nice boy, hence the connection. I only hope it continues in the same vein. Good luck to him.

Esteban Ocon confirmed at Force India to replace Hulkenburg.
