2016-17 Silly Season. Drivers Market

Ok Il_leone

It will cost a certain amount of money to provide a child with the necessary equipment etc to get in to f1. A bit more than thd average slum dweller can afford.

And, newsflash, not all areas of all towns are equal. There are *whispers* nice bits and shit bits, some shittier than others admittedly. It is unlikely that the salary of a part time shelf stacker (highly respectable job) are going to fund a childs f1 career aspirations.

Let me be clear, i am not belittling the effort that Anthony Hamilton put in to support his son, but ffs, you make it sound like he made a cardboard house under a bridge, and worked sifting througb rubbish to find things he could sell. He did not. He got extra jobs. Something that i may need to do in order to fund my child in obtaining a pilots license, and i shall do so gladly. And i do not think my upbringing or status is significantly different to Anthony. And if my boy wanted to try to get in to f1 and i thought him capable, i would be working my ass off.

But i draw the line at moving to Port Talbot. Pembrey looks nice though.

Strange council house

Rio slum

Can you spot the difference?

People in Rio prefer to live in fish cans that require less maintenance? :o

I do not intend to insult the humans that must live in such conditions. It is pathetic to compare any city in the UK with a slum and call it such.

There are "shitty" places to live in the UK but it does not compare to living with the stench of s**t and pi** and other things such as gangs around your house, for example, in India, South Africa or Brazil etc.. Compared to those situations most people are spoilt in the wealthier European nations.

The Pits most people can't afford houses these days and Slough prices are considered one of the cheaper areas of Berkshire area

I've worked in Slough when it was a slum hence the influence behind the series the Office the TV series

What an absolute load of cobblers. Don't need to know anything about construction industry or market forces to knowwhat the truly poor and rough areas are, be it in London or anywhere else. Just need to live in them or visit them regularly to see friends who do. There are certainly plenty of them in London in the larger estate blocks in Hackney or Harlesden And these areas within areas are tucked away within their burrough so that most of the TV-watching public wouldn't even know they exist, and they certainly never go on any crappy TV shows.

I'm talking about the areas where walking around by yourself is not a good idea, even in the daytime. The sort of areas where you can't walk about for more than 5 mns without being offered some "pizza" by te local wide-eyed psychos.

Because people have decided to fight the 'money is evil and a working class hero is something to be' angle over a quick racing driver who has a lot of money in the bank......like every single racing driver and the majority of people associated with the sport.

I haven't. Personally I'd have loved to have been born within a wealthy family. I might have ended up even more marvelous than I am now.
EDIT OK, maybe time for me to piss off to the Drunk thread.
EDIT 2 : Actually I think we might start feelng the clank of iron from the old C & T over the way this thread' s gone off-topic for a while now... :embarrassed:

I used to work at ICL in Stevenage, I also used to go 10 pin bowling there and a few years later we used to go shopping there. No, I did not see all Stevenage but did learn quite a bit about it through workmates and acquaintances. It was a reasonable place to work and live in with most of the housing quite modern; that which wasn't was in the old town and was certainly not slummy.

I also worked in IT for many years, the joke was that you could tell who the permanent staff were, they were the ones not driving the Porsches. The last part of my working days were as a contractor doing the job which I had been doing as permanent staff; the main difference was that I got paid much more as a contractor.

So who should Renault choose as their other driver? They don't seem to know what they want or playing stupid poker games with the press and the drivers?

Now I am hearing they are looking for drivers who will bring money to the team :o? This is suppose to be the the once mighty Renault team who won back in 2005-06 and a global car manufacturer who would consider even Felipe Nasr and Esteban Gutierrez:facepalm:

Bill Boddy My first work place the It contractors because of millenium bug worries were paid ridiculous money per hour and some earned more than the directors and were turning up to work in convertibles and the latest sportscars..kudos to get rid of the lost of them

RasputinLives speaking of money a phrase from Gordon Grecko " Greed is good !" applies to Bernie

Magnussen: Power struggle behind Renault 2017 driver delay

That option has expired I think and he has an offer from Haas

Then again Renault deny that a Kevin Magnussen edition Renault Clio recently launched has anything do to do with his F1 future

Incidentally Gutierrez was the driver who did testing for Ferrari on 2017 tyres so it is something that the midfield and back end teams might consider that the knowledge about the tyres might come in handy

I wonder why the sudden change of subject it was so uncontroversial :whistle:LOL

But shouldnt be any surprise as money always helps that wont stop til we get cost cutting, but you sound surprised uf anything Hulkenberg is the expection because Palmer brought money & magnussen brought around 8m ish from Denmark

F1Brits_90 I am just sticking to the thread and seeing this one is like a merry go round ride that never stops ..just the people who are already on keep themselves on it whilst then there is a few more late additions to hope onto the ride

If Renault seriously need drivers with money then how is this current set up going to be different from the one Genii Capital who almost successfully managed to send the team into administration. Renault have to be serious about their commitment in F1 and realise their needs to be the foundations in place first

I am reading that Abiteoul and Vasseur are at odds with each other over the direction of the team and probably drivers as well included

So perhaps this is why Perez did not join the team

It appeared they had direction in wanting to name a team leader but they need to really get on with getting the 2nd driver on board but when you hearing the bosses saying " The performance of what is still available does not give confidence or is convincing enough to hire them.".. it hardly helps the drivers within the team
