F1Brits_90 What a lifeline for K Mag and a chance to get himself into a Ferrari drive for 2018 possibly? I suspect that there must be some commercial reasons behind it as well because it certainly would have to involve a lot of dissuading with Ferrari not to keep Gutierrez at Haas even though it would not make the Mexican sponsors of Ferrari happy
Ocon apparently is not going to sign for Renault because Mercedes want him to sign and learn at a Mercedes powered team and that only leaves Williams, Force India and Manor . Williams are filled up so its Manor and Force India
Apparently Werhlein's attitude towards the team about monitoring the engine over the radio is one of the reasons why he has not been linked with non Mercedes drives
Greenlantern101 You know that is interesting seeing both Ocon and Wehrlein tested with Force India and it appears the team like Ocon much better as a team player compared to Wehrlein. I am not sure if they think he will be another Di Resta who was constantly moaning that he should be in a top team attitude
If you read on the article it says
Nasr to Renault just shows money matters
Gutierrez going back to Sauber
Well i dont think it would be much surprise because the guy is younger. Not as talented but has huge potential & probally cheaper. But i feel hulkenburg is perfect fit for everyone at renault

No surprise from the Williams announcement that broke in austin as Martin Brundle all but broke the news of who would replace massa in austin, from the bits i know of him he sounds a bit like sergio perez. Talented driver. winning euro F3 comfatably by nearly 200 pts & the last time he finished a race not on the euro f3 podium was 30th July when he came 4th in race 3. with alot of money behind him. Wouldve prefered to see him in GP2 but then i said that about max verstappen & i couldnt have been more wrong. Although 1 thing i can be sure off is i doubt he will replicated the last Canadian debutant for Williams & challenge for the f1 title 21 years later
Although could his affect max verstappen. Strange i know but from next season he has lost his "selling" point (for want of a better word) as Max has always been the youngest on the grid & yet stroll will take that honour next season
The $u$pen$e had been killing me, I'm $tartled by the deci$ion that they cho$e Lance $troll for next $eason.
According to $ome $ource$ he will bring 35 Million $ to the team
Stroll has looked pretty tasty in junior formula both this year and before. To be honest I think it's too soon for him and that Williams is the kiss of death (on the decline) for a young driver at the moment but I have been wrong about these things many many many times before.
Some media sources have written that he had his own and new simulator built at Williams programmed for F3, whilst Bottas and Massa had to use the old one.
Auto motor sport says that his father financed wind- tunnel hours and the development of the Mercedes engines (F3 engines). Furthermore Nick Cassidy supposedly helped him setting up the car.
He was dominant no doubt and I guess he will make it in Formula One but it is a huge step and many prospects have failed despite dominating junior categories.
Titch to answer your question he is good but he's not shown the "oh my god he's good!" level yet. He has been part of the Ferrari Young Driver programme for the last few years (he left as soon as the Williams connection sprouted) and has been developing pretty quickly. He is a talent and he has certainly stepped it up this year. I think without the backing he would have been pushing for an F1 seat in around 2 years anyway.
Unfortunately this move will attract a lot of abuse from people before he has even turned a wheel which I think is slightly unfair.
Rutherford the Nick Cassidy thing is completely out of context. team mates share data and the more experience help the less on set up through out the field so levelling that at him is really just a way to stir the pot. it's a spec series and he still has to drive the wheels off the thing to get those results.
I can see why there is a backlash against drivers from rich families though. The better drivers are always the ones who came up from the slums like Senna.........oh!
As i put above he's is closer to sergio perez than Pastor Maldonado. Alot of cash but alot of talent. All you have to do is look at record Greenlantern101 has put up. Because as i said he won euro F3 comfortably by nearly 200 pts & the last time he finished a race not on the euro f3 podium was 30th July when he came 4th in race 3 (i think even then he was at back of the grid). Alongwith 7 wins from 9, 21 out of last 22 podiums it made not have quality of gp3 but it was utter domination
