Am I alone in being impressed with Caterham at the moment? They have had some reliability issues in the first Barcelona test, but at the moment, they are looking ok, and it is interesting to note that the time they have logged so far is nearly 2 seconds quicker than their best qualifying time last year, a real improvement, even if it was a testing glory run.
It is hard to tell where everyone is relative to last season, but this looks to be a significant jump up the order.

The thing that has impressed me most about Caterham is that they seem to be able to run for long distances in this test with few troubles. That is a significant improvement on last seasons test schedules. They do however, appear to be consistently in the lower half of the daily testing time sheets. I don't think you can read too much into that just yet as we can never tell anyone's real race pace until the first Saturday of the season. If I was in a team towards the back of the grid though, I'd be starting to worry about finishing the year in 11th.
I think in the case of Caterham, you can read something in to the times, even if they took all the fuel out, and ran on super soft tyres, they are 2 seconds quicker than in the same conditions last year (although I am not sure of the impact of weather)
Appreciate that the movement of other teams is unknown, but I would doubt an improvement of 2 seconds would be possible with all the rule changes, and small improvements, or evn status quo is more likely, which indicates to me that a more closed midfield would be the outcome.
Unless of course HRT and Marussia have built giant slayers, and are holding off the testing so as not to give the game away.

Vettel has been seen going to the Torro Rosso garage. The rumour is that he is thinking of going back to them to make room for Hamilton at RBR.
Massa is still as sacked as he was last night, and to prove it he has put in a time two tenths faster in the "slow" Ferrari faster than Grosjean (Big John?) yesterday.
Raikkonen has only done seven laps in three hours. A lotus spokesman says that they are making the car to suit his taste. Left hand button on the steering wheel for ice cream, right hand one for vodka.
Senna got to second fastest, on his fast lap he was three (3) seconds quicker than anyone else in the second sector (the one with the chicane in it).

I'm sure they wish they were. The mercs chewing through tyres so quick they're trying to work out why. One laps great but it falls away by nearly 2secs within four laps. Problems I think, not sandbagging.

Yes they can be but it depends on what's causing the problem as to how quickly they can get on top of it. They only have one more day before they head to Australia.

The situation at Ferrari appears to be changing rapidly. Pat Fry was concerned they had a very narrow performance window. The slightest change was causing a drop off in its performance. They seem to be developing an understanding of the new Ferrari very very quickly. It doesn't seem to matter what tyres Massa bolts on it's very quick. Yes, they're low fuel runs but so are everyone else's. He did a 22.8 on hards and a 22.4 on supersofts. The best Webber managed on hards was in the mid 24's.
I've always believed Ferrari would be very quick come Melbourne. A couple of phrases spring to mind for all those journalists that have been talking Ferrari down, almost righting them off, egg on face and eating words.

Probably that opening in the front will direct air to the back of the car as it is the same with the exhaust.
Ha, the paranoia of F1 teams knows no bounds. Watch how quickly the Red Bull team cover everything up.
