Spurs have a decent team, an improvement on last season, but I'm very aware that much of the reason they're third is that Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all substantially worse than they were. Two wins for Arsenal doesn't make them any better in the scheme of things (as we will see, no doubt, against Milan tonight); nor does two defeats for Spurs.
As for the substitutes bench, Sandro and Livermore had the better of Carrick and Scholes on Sunday without question. Once van der Vaart, Bale and Parker are available for selection we should be even better - not that our performances have been any worse than they were earlier in the season, the Emirates game excepted.
