Current Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

I thought he was making a huge mistake leaving McLaren given their pedigree. How wrong I was, but I don't think anyone could have predicted how spot on his decision would turn out, or the spectacular fall of McLaren for that matter!

I think if we track back a few years on here many of us would need to order a few slices of humble pie.

I can't remember what I said actually so I'm going to plead ignorance to anything I got completely wrong ;)

I did once say Nico Rosberg would never win a Grand Prix though.....humble pie then.

Yeah, I was talking in general mate, not just about Hamilton. I think we keyboard warriors have all had our hits and misses.

Good to see that by getting his 3rd World Championship he has now attainted greatness in F1. Hope there are a few more championships to be won before he retires.

Brogan Can I ask you a question? I know you rate Lewis highly. But I remember you saying you didn't think he'd win another championship. Why was that? Was it due to the misfortune that befell him last year? Just not a lucky guy? Fighting against the establishment? Or just a gut feeling? I'm genuinely interested in your thinking.

Congratulation to Lewis, by joining that pretty exclusive club of 3XWDC winners.

I have to say I was not convinced about Hamilton moving because he wanted to emulate Senna at Mclaren and that included winning 3 titles and earning himself a Mclaren sportscar

Also the troubles that Mercedes had made it less convincing that they were going to be front runners with their structure of excessive technical directors

Hindsight can be a wonderful thing few predicted Mclaren would fall off quite dramatically and Whitmarsh would be replaced.

It does seem Mclaren was too corporate for Lewis and Ron Dennis ' relationship with him broke down completely as well during that time

**Cough**

If I had Hamiltons talent and Mclaren were cutting my salary I would of signed for Mercedes already.
Merc have a huge budget and talent such as Brawn, given time they will come good. I reckon world champions by 2014.

For me its a no brainer, Mclaren are taking the pee, the deal they are offering is an insult.

Plus Rosberg is his pal.

Ditch them Lewis.

Ok the last bit didn't last but a good call I reckon.
;):p:whistle:

He may change that view. He always felt he wanted to stay with McLaren but Whitmarsh came along. It looks most likely at the moment that he'll remain with Mercedes but I wouldn't write off either a return to McLaren or a switch to Ferrari.
Once he has two or three more championships under his belt.

FB - No idea to whom he could be referring there. It's not like Hamilton to have a sky dig in the media against the kind of Monaco-resident, F1-champion-son, rich, nationality-fluid born runner-up that sometimes appears in F1...
