Jenson Button

Arguably the best ever driver in mixed conditions, all his wins at Mclaren have come in those conditions. His last race win in the dry came at the 2009 Turkish GP.

Button is known for his smooth driving style and is normally seen in must races doing one less stop than his rivals for tyres.

Buttons also know to be a bit of a practical joker and will take part in anything fun.

Since his debut in 2000 Button has won the majority of hearts in this country. But what is your favourite JB win?

Mine has to be Hungaroring 2006, in argubly a midfield team and he won the race in those mixed conditions to take his first win. I can remember James Allen been in tears almost and that was the first race Anthony Davidson ever commentated on.

Of course we don't know Titch, my comment is opinion only, based on Ron Dennis's history as a Team Principal and his expectations of drivers and their responsibilities to McLaren. Very autocratic.

Difficult race today, he has made into Q3 but failed to score points. Again. And it all started that good for McLaren in Australia.
 
Very bizarre thing to say if the question posed was the question and the answer wasn't cleverly edited. I do wonder when quotes are broken up, but for the final part seems to be saying just that EN.
 
Or that two experienced drivers could provide a better input than one experienced driver and a rookie?

I suppose it depends on the agenda.
 
I get that but a tenth or two is very specific in terms of time lost. Would Magnussons incidents and coaching needs be using up valuable time perhaps?

That said McLaren need a second or two to make a difference.
 
I think the agenda for McLaren would be to have a quicker car. We saw Jenson make the car slower during his time partnered with Lewis, to the point where all eyes turned to the other side of the garage, including Jenson's eyes. They then finished the season with the quickest car on the grid, which to their detriment they through away for the next season. Perhaps now they have nowhere to look but at drivers who are not currently occupying their race seats.

Yes he must have, quite an achievement if you ask me and there's everyone saying it was all Whitmarsh's fault now the truth has come out it wasn't Whitmarsh at all, it is all Jenson's fault..

Well you really do live and learn don't you.

OK. Then it was Whitmarsh's fault for looking to Jenson's side of the garage for too long. Jenson cannot help that he was unable to steer the cars development in the right direction, so technically you are correct. It was not Jenson's fault. I am not making things up here so unless you missed the season in question then there is nothing to learn from me on this matter. You will have learned this already.

...and RasputinLives, you too are right, as Jenson actually made the car faster by application of his foot on the throttle pedal. Without that input the car would have been stationary.
 
I don't understand. The Ferrari has generally got better through the seasons that Alonso has been with Ferrari. That's irrelevant, anyway.

I think Ferrari have completely failed to make any sort of move forward since 2010 but I don't blame that on Alonso.

EDIT: Wait a minute, this is the Button thread :thinking: As for the article above, what Button said is probably true but I'm surprised he said it publicly.

No it isn't you put the failure of the team on one persons shoulders which is not only unfair it is completely inaccurate, so what I'm saying is, if as you suggest Jenson has caused McLaren to fail since he's been with them then surely the same thing has to be said of Alonso at Ferrari..
