Who will replace Massa at Williams next year?

JP has competed in 18 championships before joining F1 and won just 2 of them. It took him 4 attempts to win in GP2. Even the winning championship he won just 4 races out of 22.

He is a decent enough driver I just don't think he is good enough for F1. He would do well in WEC or Indy cars.

Joylon certainly seems to be a nice enough guy and would be a great addition to other series but for F1 he's hopessly slow or at least that's how Hulkenberg makes him look. I'm inclined to think even Massa could be faster than him, if that's the case, there's no point in trying to bring him in as Stroll is the young protégée who in addition brings very serious dough

There isn't going to be any interest from serious WEC teams in a driver who's consistently 1sec slower than his team mate.

So one would expect that Palmer won't be taking a race-winning car and finishing no better than sixth with it, if someone has learned a lesson.

Daddy Jonathon is less exalted than Uncle Ayrton, on an unrelated note.

Crap, I voted Rookie too as I thought Williams were going to sign Chewbacca.

I think you need a visit to the Doctor's, judging by this and comments in chat I think your pun gland is acting up.

On topic, I'd like to see a rookie but think it may well be PdR.

I see Di Resta 's name on every other option so who is singing his name apparently Williams might be open to that idea given he is a Mercedes backed driver so that would circumvent having to field Werhlein.

I said at the beginning what were Williams aiming to achieve when they paired Stroll with Massa ???:dunno: Now if Renault find a decent 2nd driver if Jolyon does not improve and Mclaren seemingly get their act together with Honda ... Williams are staring at potentially 8th in the constructors championship. So they' stand to lose $30-$40m potentially which is the same amount of money Lance Stroll's Dad is bringing in but they don;t seem to have long term plan about getting back to the front

Di Resta or Palmer - I would not be surprised given it is a typical Williams conservative approach to driver pairing... Sergio Perez's name has not been mentioned but I am sure some his sponsorship money could come in handy

I am sorry but Felipe has to go whilst the sun is shining. He does not need to be remembered for driving around until the little rich boy finally beat him into retirement - he is better than that

I started this post in jest really. I think Massa will probably go at the end of the year. I just hope they don't get Pascal in the seat.
Paul is a decent choice if they can't steal a bigger name current driver. I don't think they would go with a rookie as Stroll is still learning, though he consistently ups his game in his second season based on his lower formulae performances.

If Williams were ambitious they would consider talking to Alonso but so Lance's dad is simply bankrolling the team to pay his wages but then again Lawrence does not want to see his boy beaten the pants out of

At the moment if its true that Perez is going to stay at Force India and Sauber is to become the Ferrari junior team then Toto will push to get Wehrlein into the team

Carlos Sainz junior whilst moving to another team who should theoretically do better more consistently than Toro Rosso would not be a bad fit for Williams but the team are not known for buying out other drivers unless he has sponsors to help him out

A typical Williams approach is to go for a driver with experience so Di Resta does fit their thinking

Well Alonso could probably make up the deficit between Williams and Red Bull to be competitive still ?

It was only just a thought
