Current Sebastian Vettel

Lots of threads have alluded to having a discussion about the current world champion so lets get it all off our collective chests (oooeer!)

Lots has been has been written about this young man from his testing debut with BMW Sauber in 2006 aged just 19 - he then progressed to the the toro rosso team for his first full race season in 2008 - the memorable race being his drive in the wet at Fuji where he managed to rear end his future team mate Mark Webber who said ""It's kids isn't it... kids with not enough experience – they do a good job and then they :censored: **** it all up." - Little was Mark to know he would be paired with the "Kid" just 2 years later.

His maiden win came at the 2008 Italian GP where he qualified up from, the race started under the safety car in the rain and the young German led from start to finish in the Toro Rosso - becoming the youngest winner of a grand prix ever.

Then we enter the era of the Red Bull. In 2009 he joined the Red Bull team, which got off to a torrid start as he managed to crash into Kubika in Australia, a feat he would go on to repeat during the 09 season.

Last year needs no mention........

So to the crux of the matter. Is Sebastian Vettel?

the real deal, the baby schumi, the new pretender - a genuine racer? - aka Wunderkind

or

A very quick driver, who lucked into a very fast car and can bang it on pole and lead from lights to flag and be the quickest pilot of a car, yet can't overtake for toffee? aka WunOrAother

i dont think there is a space on the grid. because. i dont see him wanting to go out in Q1 every week & mercedes are changing then russell will get the seat

Apparently Vettel held talks with Renault.

He has now admitted he would consider a return to Red Bull.

He's also currently praising Racing Point (whoever the **** that is).

Desperate much?

it wont happen as the owner wont sack his son & perez with his big talent brings alot of money. Otmar Szafnauer‎ has said perez is on a 3 year deal & lance stroll is on a "long term" contract

Read the article F1Brits_90, it actually states the following:

The four-time F1 world champion is believed to have been offered a contract by team owner Lawrence Stroll, who is keen to build the strongest possible package for the rebranding of the current Racing Point team next season.

Are not people forgetting Vettel would be then within Mercedes camp with a view of moving over in 2022 then ? We know Stroll's son wont be replaced unless his Dad can farm him off but I don't see that. So you have to say Perez would move with a pay off probably to Haas where they desperately need his money and the appeal to the American market

He can still use his credibility that he is a four times world champion clout that is why

Maybe dropping his salary demands might help

well i guess it possible on that. because like mercedes we know who pays the bills. but it would prove that Lawrence stroll hasnt bothered to let his boss know. as in the rain break of qualifying. he was very adamant that its flattering but we have our 2 drivers & they are there for at at least 3 years

i think it would be a huge disappointment to lose perez. he has always overachieved & finally for 1st gets a car capable of podiums on merit & he's dumped in what could cost racing point £40m + because you'll lose £20m perez brings & have to pay vettel likely £20m +

Hearing BBC podcast and Palmer thinks Perez is the most underrated on the grid - please answer on most under rated driver thread

Be interesting to see what sponsors Aston Martin will get if Vettel did join to replace Perez
