Jenson Button

Arguably the best ever driver in mixed conditions, all his wins at Mclaren have come in those conditions. His last race win in the dry came at the 2009 Turkish GP.

Button is known for his smooth driving style and is normally seen in must races doing one less stop than his rivals for tyres.

Buttons also know to be a bit of a practical joker and will take part in anything fun.

Since his debut in 2000 Button has won the majority of hearts in this country. But what is your favourite JB win?

Mine has to be Hungaroring 2006, in argubly a midfield team and he won the race in those mixed conditions to take his first win. I can remember James Allen been in tears almost and that was the first race Anthony Davidson ever commentated on.

Maybe one of the fastest, but the fastest.....:nah:

Jenson acknowledges Lewis is probably one of the fastest drivers he's been paired against . The others being Trulli and Fisichella

A recent Autosport analysis on the 6 world champions compared with a peak Schumacher reviewed that Hamilton, Vettel and Raikkonen were probably the fastest drivers

However both Alonso and Button were very strong on race pace ,leadership skills and less error which the other 3 lacked

I've not mentioned Schumacher because he's lost some of that edge of his peak

-------------------------------------

Jenson is smart enough now to deal with Alonso having seen all the politics of Briatore at Renault and worked with Alonso

There is mutual respect between the two but going to Ferrari would be suicidal for Jenson although that was said about him going to Mclaren and taken on Hamilton and he's come out better and proved people wrong like he always does

That comparison put Raikonen as the most errorless of all

Lewis Hamilton was supposed to be invincible, especially at McLaren.

Button came in and within 2 years beat him.

Fernando Alonso is supposed to be invincible at Ferrari.

Anyone reckon Button could dethrone him as well given a few years?

No (and he hasnt dethroned Hamilton, though he's tyring hard8-))

Lewis was ahead of Button on points even after his debacle at Monaco, and lost that lead at Canada, while trying to pass a slower Jenson.

If the team gave him equal status to Alonso from the start I think he could definitely challenge Alonso to become the dominant force at Ferrari. But as Ferrari generally have number 1 & 2 drivers (which I think is the best strategy), I highly doubt they'd sign Button as a number 1 or even equal status driver whilst Alonso is still there.

When he went to look round the McLaren factory and talk to Whitmarsh he came away and said to his manager...'get me that McLaran drive even if I have to drive for nothing'. I wonder what was said, promised, shown him, that made him feel like that?
