Head To Head Jenson Button vs Lewis Hamilton

I was more making reference to the way they're perceived by fans/media.

When Button's getting thumped as he was in the mid part of this season it seems to be somewhat ignored, but when Hamilton was on the wrong end of things in 2011 it was the story of the season. I remember there being a front cover of F1 Racing with a picture of Button infront of a Mclaren with "It's HIS team now" as the main headline. It's almost as if the rivalry exists only when Button has the upper hand.

I guess that would depend on which fans you are talking about, but you are probably right about the media which in turn stirs up some fans, which of course is the intention of the media i.e to create controversy, but then it can always be ignored by the less ardent of fans, which if we all did would kill the media's fire power and in so doing quench the controversy, and thus allow us to get on with the more important issue of supporting the person we have chosen to, without being ridiculed for it..

Qualified higher, managed the tyres, caught up with most of the pack, continued to push and race until the very end, finished a considerable margin in front of his team mate. It's races like this which shows why Hamilton is better.

Caught up with most of the pack? Could well have been second considering that Webber had no KERS for a large part of the race, except that Hamilton made a couple of mistakes near the end.

There wasn't any "pack" for him to catch, just a driver without KERS.

Well that driver without KERS(for some of his race) was only a second or so behind Alonso, and the car behind Hamilton, his team mate, was some 13 seconds adrift. So I'd say Hamilton had fought back to catch the pack.

Lewis again disproved the idea that he can't manage his tires, and he also seemed to remain fairly calm for a steering wheel change, during a scheduled pit stop.........good stuff.

It is striking that when tyres aren't critical, or are less critical, the gap between the two widens (I mean in Hamilton's favour, obviously).
