Indy Racing League Tragedy - R.I.P. Dan Wheldon

Britains Dan Wheldon has died after a 15 car pile up in Las Vegas which was stageing it's final event.

My thoughts go out to family and friends. On what has become a sad day for British Motorsport. RIP Dan you will be missed .

Really hope that all drivers involved in the shunt are ok.

Very sad day for American Motorsports indeed and really hope the series can bounce back from this.

Will Power, Pippa Mann and JR Hilderbrand were also taken to hospital. But Wheldon is thought to be in a serious condition.

Hey Hammy believe me, Dan's loss is not only to British Motorsports fans. Dan was a nice guy, and someone who I wished could have made it in F1.

RIP... It does just remind us of the dangers of motorsport- dan wheldon was such an incredible talent that it's just unbelievable this has happened!

I hate to say this, but this seems of a similar sort of magnitude to senna's crash 17 years ago...

It shows how F1 pales in comparison when you look at speed, I mean look at Spa 1998, in F1 terms that was a horrid crash but it just doesn't even compare to what we've seen today. Horrid to watch.

Have no plans to watch the crash footage but RIP Dan Wheldon - deaths in motor sport these days are (thankfully) few and far between these days which makes anything like this even more shocking.
