It does tooncheese.I have a large database of old and ndew sidecar racing pics.
Difficult one this. Not much to go on but bonus for sidecar drivers name.
Well the driver is Helmut Fath and I believe that quite a few of his hacks were killed but I'm going to say that this particular side hack is Wolfgang Kalauch brave boys the side hacks I've been following sidecars for years and know a bit about the history, I'm pretty sure about the circuit but I will let someone else have a go.
Is it that's me wrong then I'd convinced myself that, that picture was taken at Hockenheim which is where Fath was born and he stuck it to the BMW team who sacked him using the URS outfit he built himself.
Edit
Having looked at the picture again it is clear he has already won the championship because he has the number one plate the print of a well known oil painting I have on my wall has him and Wolfgang in an almost identical position but with the the number, 25 as you can see..
Spot on tooncheese.1968 left hand sweeper. Mephistopheles.Your pic is far superior. You can see the opposite lock Fath has on there in a full bloodied drift. That for me is one of the most exciting feelings I have ever experienced in my sidecar racing career.
Fath is worth an article himself.Brilliant engineer.88 bhp out of a 500cc 4 is no mean achievement.
