1954, and Nino Farina drives past the burning wrecks of Mike Hawthorn and Jose Froilan Gonzalez's cars. In 1955 this race was the venue for the first Formula One victory by a British driver in a British car, when Tony Brooks won in a Connaught.

Well done tc, quite right, Longford in Tasmania, used in the close season Tasman Series. Even at the time it was infamous.

The chicane through the legs of a railway viaduct must have been particularly fun, and the turn through the centre of the town itself was a little on the narrow-and-lines-with-buildings side for my taste!
