On the BBC's little pre-season chat show, one explanation for McLaren not running on Thursday was that they had a lot of new parts to chuck at the car. And they are ceasing the opportunity to spend the whole day fitting and preparing the car for the final two days of winter testing.
Lewis is still in the pits and his previous run was painfully slow compared to virtually all the other cars on track today. So presumably they really are going to need those parts and the extra time to fit them.
