Pre-Season Barcelona Test - 8th to 12th March

22nd May. Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain.
Spanish Grand Prix

Commentry:
Martin Brundle: I think something's wrong with Massa, he's pitting. Ted Kravitz, can you see anything?
Ted Kravitz: Yes, Martin, Ferrari tell me that Felipe is having his scheduled rest and he'll complete the race later.
David Coulthard: Well, that puts Alonso ahead of him then...

With a lap taken off the beginning of Felipe's and the end of Mark's we could see Ferrari having plenty of time for that extra pitstop...

And tomorrow we can resume our favourite pastime of McLaren-worrying, as well as a side-order of HRT-laughing and Greek timing data bemoaning!

As a McLaren fan, 2009 seems very similar at the moment
I don't think it's as bad as that. It's certainly not what we expected though. Although as a Lewis fan I'd like to see him have a dominant car, there's something very enjoyable about watching him wring the neck of something that isn't perfect. I think the 26 is at a similar level to the 25 although Lewis actually has said he feels it has lost downforce to last year. I think they would be in dire straights if Renault had made a serious move forward (I don't see it yet) or if Mercedes had (again, I see no indication that they have, if anything, they've moved backwards).

I never like to read too much into testing but having a wild stab at it, I see the pecking order like this

Red Bull
Ferrari
Williams
Renault
McLaren
Mercedes
Sauber/Toro Rosso
Lotus
Force India
Virgin
A Dacia Sandero
That zimmerframe Red Bull gave to Bernie last year
Hispania

I think half of Renault/Lotus' performances has been lost with the injury to Kubica. No offense to Heidfeld but i dont think he has the raw talent that Kubica has. Kubica i think would have won races this year, not convinced by Heidfelds ability to do that but we'll see

Agreed, unscientifically, they're losing ~0.3s a lap with Heidfeld rather than Kubica.

I really like Heidfeld and have him in my top 10 current drivers, but Kubica is something else - I'd take him over anyone bar Alonso and Hamilton.

Watching "The Flying Lap" today, Patrick Head has both Toro Rosso and Sauber ahead of McLaren! He said he had heard Jenson saying he would be happy with being third fastest team at Melbourne and Patrick thought that was very optimistic indeed!

It was live today, a special Williams retrospective episode!

Perhaps they take a day or two to get the recorded download posted.

Oh dear, here we go a gain with the urban myth about Kubica's talent. If he was that good he would have been snatched by a better team by now. Heidfeld beat him in two of the three seasons they were teammates.
