Some confusion over whether the saving is $20.5m total or per year. Yahoo Sports reporting it is per year (and that they paid $55m last year).

Having said that, other rumours are that Argentina will pay top dollar, but the idea that they can get all that built by the end of 2013...? Put it this way, judging by recent new venues, that might be pushing it!

I thought Argentina's economy was kaput? Wheres that coming from? Not that I object to more races in South America or Central America - they have always been involved and fans of the sport.

More of a technical question here. With the new exhaust systems exiting out of the top of the car, does this mean more emphasis is placed on the rear wing therefore any damage to the rear wing is magnified compared to last year? Or am I completely wrong?

And does it look like Mclaren are going to be rewarded for not going with those hideous stepped noses?

That's some deal if it's per year, don't see why Bernie can't do it for the better tracks e.g Spa
Well, it was a horrible deal before now it's just an "above average price". I doubt Spa has to pay as much as Korea, even after the discount ($35m). I think they are more in the Silverstone bracket :)

Rear wing and exhaust: I would think that if the rear wing suffers damage to surface areas that are "blown" by the exhaust and if the effect of the blowing normally confers some advantage, then yes we would expect that advantage to be nullified with a subsequent drop in performance. Just how much of a loss that would mean in race conditions would depend on a) the performance gain from the design and b) the kind and severity of any damage.

McLaren's smooth nose reward: If McLaren posted their car on Clip The Apex it would win signifantly more "Likes" :)

Edit: Seriously though, there is an old saying in engineering: "If it looks right, it is right" . If we consider the effect of stepped surfaces with regard to airflow, we know that this confers drag via the eddies in the flow over the top edge of the vertical (or near vertical) face and downforce on the lower horizontal plane of the step. The smooth arc of the McLaren nose is more like the top surface of an aerofoil over which airflow will be smooth and unobstructed. The Ferrari nose, for example, has a profile like an F1 cars rear wing - i.e. an "L" shape. It looks wrong to me as I can imagine a disturbed airflow buffetting in front of the drivers face. However, if the angles are right it might just create a "bubble" over the cockpit by causing the air to flow up and over the drivers helmet and toward the airbox.

I'd love to see a CFD or CAD simulation to see if that's the case.

And yet they are in trouble?

Hm...

I think they have to pay 20-25million for the GP at SPA.
So to get that money there have to be around the 65.000 people attending the race. Last year there were i think around the 45.000. I also read that the french part has to pay 4 million euro in taxes to the federal part and 2 million in social laws.

Another problem was that the organization asked to much money for a ticket. I think that since this year the prices have been dropped.

Does anyone now if a team can introduce a complete new car during a season?
Rumor says it that Ferrari are building a new car and i just wanna now if they can use it this year or that they have to wait till next year.

If it is legal and passes the crash tests, then yes.

Did virgin no need to get special dispensation from all the other teams in 2010 to redesign the chassis due to the small fuel tank issue?

Not exactly, though it seems they needed permission from the FIA. The introduction of a homologation process for the survival cell and fuel tank in 2010 meant that this was required. If Ferrari wanted to change these aspects then I assume the same provisions would apply, though they aren't mentioned in the Technical Regulations (at least, not that I can find).

I've noticed that some drivers wear 2 kneepads, others 1 and some none. So I was wondering if it's just due to some cars having an uncomfortable steering column between the legs or if some teams design the cockpit with 2 kind of cylinders for each leg?

When they state the length of a Grand Prix circuit is it done by taking a centre line around the track as the length would be different if you measured it from either the inside of the circuit or the outside?

Not putting the cart before the horse as far as Rosberg is concerned but who was the last driver to win their first race in their Championship season? I know Nico's Dad did...
