I think that, if the stewards were to accept the protest on 48.12, they would have to conclude that the race had been inappropriate managed, and would need to void the race... The result of that would then be that Verstappen would be champion...

Agree - it's a classic case of the season would be better if the teams weren't bleating to Masi throughout the race. I prefer that we can see it now, as it just demonstrates how childish they all are.

ive just about calmed down. im still furious with Mercedes themselves. regardless of everything you should pit Hamilton under that final safety car. its like china 2016?? when Riccardo won the grand prix by pitting late

& bottas saved his most pathetic performance for last. i dont mind him complaining but at least back it up

In hindsight, it seems that Mercedes was need call to Hamilton for new tires as soon as the safety car appeared.
Even if Verstappen hadn't stopped by and Hamilton was behind him at the restart,
it would have been a winning situation.
But.... everyone thinks of himself as a strategist, seeing the fight from the outside...
and even more so after the fight is over

Perhaps with all the cock ups on the part of the FIA and its employees the best result is a joint WDC, then everyone gets what they want Merc gets its driver an 8th WDC and RB get their driver his first. Unprecedented, yes but so were the decisions on the final two races once the governing body gets it wrong you may as well go the whole hog.

Mercedes have lodged an intention to appeal. Personally I would leave it. Lobby to have the procedures and rules updated, but improve the future rather than tried to alter the past. This season has been a bit of a shit show in terms of officiating one way or another, and the teams and the FIA should focus on how to remove the off field nonsense and make the o track action the star of the show.
